Vitalik Buterin not HODLing?

The hot crypto market is getting to the point where some coin founders that made it big is donating to Vitalik for his invention of the ETH and its way of doing Defi. Vitalik over recent months have received substantial amount of tokens from many of these booming altcoins, but rather than holding to them for price appreciation he has been donating them.

Memecoins such as Shiba Inu coin (SHIB), dogelon (ELON), Akita Inu (AKITA), mwDOGE (mwDOGE) and OURSHIB (OSHIB) have been tracked going into Vitalik's public wallet and these donations are in the billions. Billions worth of US dollar at current prices. Vitalik proves to the public that he seeks to invest only the things he find useful does not hold the memecoins, but instead donates them for the greater good.

Notably, Buterin donated 50 trillion SHIB tokens (worth a nominal $1.2 billion at press time) to the India Covid Relief Fund kicked off by Polygon founder Sandeep Nailwal late last month. He also sent about $431 million of AKITA to Gitcoin, a public Ethereum-based fundraising platform, according to Etherscan.

Literally less than four hours ago from the writing of this post Vitalik donated almost half a billion dollars of AKITA. The ETH founder is not in it necessarily just for the money but to also create an effective way to bring up the standard of living for people that are less fortunate or needs assistance.

This act of Vitalik by no means means he is not a crypto coin hodler. In fact he still holds a significant amount of ETH that is equal to over a $1 billion in value. This making him technically a crypto billionaire. Yet the story is worth mentioning here since Vitalik is willing to give out billions likely because he does not feel the coins that he received deserves to be held. Instead he would give it away for the sake of helping others rather than hold it to himself to only make him look richer on paper.

If you were in Vitalik's shoes would you have held on to the crypto or sold it for fiat and pocket the profit, or donate it to a charity or cause. I think Vitalik is setting a good example here. The fact he did not keep the crypto for his own benefits speaks volumes to what he believes in as to the real uses of crypto. A choice to do what one wants to in life without the reliance of fiat currency.
