12 years of Bitcoin: The lessons I've learned so far
Today marks the 12th anniversary of Bitcoin. The underlying technology heralded a revolutionary movement in finance. Bitcoin came into the scene during the 2008 financial meltdown and has grown into an ominous presence in the world of finance.
I got into cryptocurrency in 2017, so I'm sort of a "late" adopter, relatively speaking of course. Technically, we're all early adopters and the stacked sats will come in handy in the future.
During my short journey through the land of Cryptocurrency, with King Bitcoin ruling over the land, I've learnt a couple of things. The lessons have mostly been about finance and life as a whole.
Bitcoin rules
Well, yeah, there have been many "challengers" but Bitcoin rules. It's the alpha dog in crypto and will stay this way for a long time.
Gateway to freedom
Bitcoin is an unregulated security that frees you from government-based financial manipulations. The Governments hate it but are scared of admitting it because they'll just look like tyrants.
Moving Train
Try as you may, the movement is in full swing. Haters have done just about everything from using shitty religious Antichrist theories to claiming it is a tool for fraud and terrorism. Yeah, let's blame cryptocurrency for funding terrorism like terrorists weren't being cunts before 2008
An active community
It firmed a collection of like-minded people that just want to win. Winning means different things but winning is winning and we love to win.
It is more than money
Well, yeah it is nice to see the value of your portfolio go up but it is more than that. It is being a part of something bigger than you and not having to deal with the usual bullshit and underhanded manipulation from the government.
- Cryptocurrency is the gateway to be more than you are.
- It is a breath of fresh air
- It is a soothing breeze and harsh wind
- It is happiness and it is sadness
- It is fear of missing out, dear uncertainty, doubt and growing a pair.
- It is getting rekt and losing it all in one day.
- It is waking up in the morning to find you're a millionaire.
Cryptocurrency has been quite the journey for me, and I'm glad @ebingo and @bhoa brought me into the game.

I just wish I knew then what I knew now and started daily cost averaging from the beginning I would have been insanely stinking rich lol but we live and we learn. I see BTC as my floor and the rest I try to get into each day is me trying to replicate what BTC did for those first early adopters

I was introduced to Steem and from there, I learned more
I am in crypto since 2017 as well and I totally agree with you that BTC is the alpha dog. I'm not a fan of it, but this is the truth.

But, that will not happen... Bitcoin and blockchain technology will change the world, and we are here to witness that from the best seats... ;)
Cheers! Have a great weekend!

today. It sounds like we got in the same time to BTC and crypto too at the end of 2017. I've learned a lot in that time and still am but if only we could turn back time to say 2012 and just mined or bought a shit load of BTC... Well, we're still early now at least, late-early adopters?
late-early sounds about right man. I could have been a millionaire now if I bought bitcoin in 2012 with a fraction of my lunch money. Fuck my life.
You and me both but it is what it is and we may still be millionaires yet, you never know!
