Stop a Douchebag
Back in the days, when my department had full staff and work was manageable, there existed down times. During the said down times, people took their allotted breaks. One of the things my colleagues and I liked to do was watch a channel on YouTube called Stop a Douchebag (SADB).
As the channel description suggests, it's about young people stopping jerks...in Russia. It seems like an absurd premise, but it's surprising how many assholes are out there. In this context, there are a surprising number of people in Russia who don't care about decency to others.
Here's one of their latest videos:
In short, SADB find people who have bad driving etiquette and/or violating traffic rules. They'd confront the said drivers and drama ensues. The encounters usually end with the iconic stickers on the windshield. Sometimes, things heat up and get a bit out of hand.
For example:
Again, the premise of the group may seem ridiculous until you see the people they interact with. I'm not sure if this is a reflection of how bad the Russian police force is in general, or if it shows a decaying society. For the most part, the police officers seem to be on the group's side. In a way, the videos do feel like young people versus boomers/Karens with entitlement issues.
While the videos provide great entertainment value, they do sadden me. They make you wonder what happened to common decency? Being selfish is one thing. But, these videos often portray the willingness to disregard and inconvenience everyone around. Or, is it the lack of education?
Most of the SADB videos tend to be around 10 minutes or less. This makes them great for a short breaks and easier to process. Did I mention they also have merchandize? Yeah, they do. You should check them out as well.

Singaporeans who are citizens of a first-world country drove like madmen too when they were in Malaysia. The reason was due to overbearing stress so they behaved like getting released from prison once they crossed over the bridge into my birth country. Another reason was due to very affordable fines and minimal repercussions to their driver's record. The exchange rate is one Singaporean Dollar to three Malaysian Ringgit.
That's really unfortunate to hear. Sounds like they are being pricks because they can get away with it.
I have never heard of this before. Pretty interesting. I know there are a lot of videos ou there about bad Russian drivers. It must be a stereotype or something because I know there are bad drivers all over the world. I don't think the Soviet Union has a monopoly on them unfortunately.
Well, it's a stereotype that seems to be plentiful.
We have these types in Japan too, usually they are more affluent. In Cali they put 11-99 Foundation on their license plates and think they are above the law.
I guess people aren't all that much different across countries.
There's always "those guys" in every culture. The Matrix just won't let them die off.
