Enjoying KFC in Pandemic

Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) is a franchise dish that is very popular in Indonesia. Almost all cities in the country have KFC branches, including Takengon Town in the Gayo Highlands. A KFC branch stands majestically, next to Bayu Hill Hotel. My family and I visited this KFC yesterday. And we enjoyed the crispy “KFC” chicken. My daughter and son love this chicken very much. You know, each of them may finish two pieces of chickens.

During the Covid-19 Pandemic, the number of KFC visitors in Takengon was reduced compared to before the pandemic. When we enjoyed lunch there yesterday, there were only a few costumers were ordering their food.

The tables are also empty, not many costumers enjoying KFC. I think people are better stay at home to get rid of infection by corona virus. Or maybe, there is economic problem during the pandemic. Primary food and other primary things are more important than going to the restaurant.

Yeah, this is the appetite for life, but nowadays many people have lost their appetite during the pandemic. Most countries are doing lockdown, but not here. We just doing semi-lockdown. That causes the pandemic will not last in short time. We have to confess that our government unable to feed their people if lockdown is applied. So the consequence is more people dead due to Covid-19. We just hope Herd Immunity going to happen.

However, sometime my family and I going to a restaurant to have lunch or dinner. Frankly, we are so bored to stay at home almost all the time. Like yesterday, we had lunch at KFC. We were so grateful as there were no many costumers to visit KFC, so we could easily do social distancing with others. The restaurant also make a rule that all visitors should follow health protocol: by wearing mask, keep distance with other and washing hand with soaps or sanitizer.

After ordering our menus, we had a seat at the middle of restaurant’s room. It’s so spacious place. We ordered some chickens, rices, french fries and drinks.

My son and daughter ordered mango floats. They love this drinks. It’s like a mango syrup with ice cream for its float. I ordered bottled tea and my wife ordered bottled mineral water.

We ate “KFC” chicken by dipping the chicken into ketchup. It’s a bit spicy but we could really tolerate it.

We spent IDR 241,500 for our menus or about $16.6. It’s a good price for that quality of food.

Yeah, for visitors to Takengon Town, you may visit this KFC branch when you are here. It’s located at Lebe Kader Street in Bebesen Village. It’s just by the side of the road, not so far from the gate of the town.

Takengon is actually a tourism town in Aceh Province. The town is located in Gayo Highlands with a great nature and culture. A beautiful lake named Laut Tawar is located in this town. We could enjoy the views around the lake.

Beside the lake, we could also enjoy the natural beauty in pine forest, and also the high hill in Pantan Teronh to have a lookout of Lake Laut Tawar.

Gayo Highlands is a also a region producing arabica coffee, named Gayo Arabica Coffee. So, when visiting Takengon we could sip a cup of coffee at every coffee shop. The fact that, there are many coffee shops in the town, you may have espresso or traditional blend of coffee.
