Salad with barbeque leftovers

We grew up in my house to have respect for food and not waste it. We were often reminded of the poorer children around the world who may not have enough food and water. It was a great life lesson and one I am passing onto my own children. We waste very little and I will always try to rustle things up to use any excuse or use foods before they are out of date. It's environmental and I believe it is just the right thing to do.

Indeed it's exactlly what I did last week when I threw this salad ensemble together for our Sunday evening dinner. It was very much a case of what's in the fridge?

Lettuce

Salad dressing

I mixed together some olive oil, balsamic vinegar, caramelised onion chutney and mixed seeds. It was a top of the head mix and it worked pretty well. Pour this over your lettuce and tomatoes just before you're ready to serve.

Add the Barbeque meats and add a dolop of chutney onto the potatoes.

Didn't turn out too bad and nicest of all were the wild flowers picked freshly that day by our boys for their Mama.

The cherry on top

Sure why not finish it off in style with a lovely slice of delicious chocolate cake. It'd be rude not to, wouldn't it. Plus chocolate and red wine go so well together.

Whiskey and nut cheese looks interesting, never seen that before. I'll jump straight to the chocolate dessert of that's ok with you 😉
