Healthy Dishes for Breakfast at Hermes Palace Hotel, Banda Aceh

Today I am having some healthy green breakfast at the restaurant of Hermes Palace Hotel in Banda Aceh. The dishes are vegetables salad, fruits, and jamu. Eating raw vegetables with some mayonnaise is a part of having fibers, vitamins, and other natural substances for our body. I highly appreciate that the restaurant serves natural dish and jamu as well. Jamu is Indonesian healthy drink which is made of extract of natural resources like ginger, cinnamon, etc.

When I walked to “green” corner, I found many kinds of vegetables are already served there. We just could take whatever we like and mix them on our plate. We could also add some mayonnaise, to make it more tasty.

We may take some broccoli, corn, slices of carrots, cabbage, cucumber, lettuces, paprika, and many other raw vegetables.

Lettuce is a widely used vegetables for salad, sandwich, or soup. According to wikipedia, lettuce (Lactuca sativa) is an annual plant of the daisy family, Asteraceae. It is most often grown as a leaf vegetable, but sometimes for its stem and seeds. In addition to its main use as a leafy green, it has also gathered religious and medicinal significance over centuries of human consumption. Europe and North America originally dominated the market for lettuce, but by the late 20th century the consumption of lettuce had spread throughout the world.

And that’s pretty true, now this vegetable is easily found in my country (Indonesia). It has been mostly used vegetable in our food, not only to eat them in raw, we also cook them. Like today, I found them in our five star hotel in Aceh Province, Hermes Palace Hotel.

No worries to eat much lettuce as it has many nutritional contents like Vitamin K, Vitamin A, beta-carotene, some folate and iron as well.source. I think lettuce is very good for health, and patient with anemia will have some benefit by eating lettuce as it contains folate and iron. Hepatic cirrhosis patients will also get some benefit to get natural vitamin K supplement.

And you know, apparently lettuce is not only has some vitamins but also have medicinal effect. I have no idea is it a myth or true thing. As I read at wikipedia, for example, that ancient Egyptians thought lettuce to be a symbol of sexual prowess. So, is it good vegetable for males with impotency?

Apart from lettuce, we may also add some slices of red cabbage for our salads. It’s called red cabbage though its color is purple. This kind of cabbage is not easily found in our province. I just often seen white cabbage in our traditional market.

The red cabbage is rich of vitamin C and Vitamin K. And according studies red cabbage has some protective effect for colon cancer. I am really surprised to know this finding, as we know colon cancer is a dangerous disease, and most of them should undergo colostomy and should take chemotherapy.

So, today I added some slices of red cabbage on my salad dish.

The taste of red cabbage is not much different to white cabbage. But its color is more interesting and make us more loving it.

I took some lettuces, red cabbages, carrots, cucumbers, paprika, broccoli, tomato and onions for my salads to day. And adding some mayonnaise.

We know that carrots have some nutritional contents as well. Carrots have beta-carroten, and it’s really good for health of our eyes as beta carotene is provitamin A. I remember when I was a kid, my mother always suggested me to eat more carrots. She said, “it’s good for your eyes”.

And paprika is also called Bell pepper with Latin name Capsicum annuum L. It contains vitamin C and some benefit for anti-oxidant. The paprika chili I eat today is green one. I took some slices of paprika into my salads dish. The taste of paprika is a bit spicy and sweet.

Broccoli contains some vitamin K and vitamin C, but it also has some vitamin B. Broccoli is also considered as one of menu for weight loss as it’s rich in fibre.wikipedia. So, I am so grateful to add some broccoli on my salads today. I will eat more broccoli in the future since it’s easy to find in our market.

I also add some slices of onion (Allium Cepa Linnaeus) on my salads for breakfast today. It contains Vitamin A, Vitamin C, calcium and phosphorus.wiki. But, I just took a little bit of onion slices.

After taking all of them and mixed on my salad plate. And it’s the looks of my salad dish to have some vitamins and minerals for my body.

Apart from vegetable salads, I also have a dish of fruits. The fruits are watermelon, honey due and papaya. They are most prepared fruits at restaurant of hotels in Indonesia. If you stay in a star hotel in Indonesia, you may see these three fruits.

I also highly appreciate that the restaurant of Hermes Palace Hotel served jamu, an Indonesian natural drink for their breakfast menu. I found a jamu corner there.

So. I had a glass of jamu today to complete my salads and fruits dishes. I take some ginger extract.

I got ready to enjoy my healthy breakfast today at the restaurant of Hermes Palace Hotel in Banda Aceh. Hermes Palace is the only five star hotel in Aceh Province of Indonesia. Aceh is located at the most northern part of Sumatra Island, bordered to Indian Ocean.

Usually, hotels serve other kinds of food, not so healthy. I really appreciate that they choose to serve a healthy breakfast. Looks delicious!

Thank you @rem-steem. That’s true, most hotels do not serve many kinds of healthy foods for breakfast. Fortunately, the hotel where I stay serves many choices of foods, including vegetables and fruits for salad..

Red/purple cabbage is crunchier than general cabbage (white cabbage). So it must be fresh and tasty. I like red cabbage
