Thoughts about social media and sharing happy moments

After sharing happy events over the past week on my social network, I reflected on how easy it is to see on social media that everything is going well, and when we share small/big victories, it seems that we are always “on track”, found and satisfied. Is not true.

I even note that for those who watch them live, and only have access to them and not all the way, with all the commas, reticences and endpoints of the same, of the two one: either it is luck; or it’s very, very lucky.

The luck. Whenever the other is successful (generalizing wrongly certain) it is luck. As if it had a "little star" or that it was born "with its tail turned towards the moon". If you don't have it, you're lazy, or don't properly fight for your goals. At the end of the day, devaluation is the watchword. We devalue others, but also ourselves, when every day, we look at our weaknesses and do not know (or want to) value ourselves as it would be presumptuous, self-centred and/or narcissistic (I love -or not-, how they trivialize that word). But I wonder, does the sharing of happiness and achievements on social networks, do not condone and encourage this unfair view of the other?

Of course, when we face problems and obstacles (which are inevitable) we don't publish them on social networks as a rule (and should we?). When we fail, we do not post on social media to say how sad and frustrated we feel, just as we do not hang our collection of disaffections and difficulties on the wall, but rather the medals of our achievements. And we don't do it because it hurts us and to assume publicly is to make them more ours, more real. It is shouting to the world and eternalizing what did not go well. But alone and with ours, we look at everything that has failed, we suffer, we think about it, we collapse and we get back up (which is the most important thing). For new ways if necessary.

So what fails? The nature of the shares on social networks, or the lack of filter for those who see them? To think...

I was also reflecting, how easy it is to compare with the lives of others as if the lives of others were always going well and ours were not. As if everything was easy for everyone but us. The achievements always achieved and full and happy life. Which is also not true.

There are no perfect lives and that is for sure.

Everyone has weaknesses, problems and anxieties. Everyone has periods when everything seems to fall apart, no matter how much we struggle to stay on the surface.
But it is these same moments, which make the achievements so special (and perhaps that is why I want to shout them out to the world). It is the ups and downs that give us life.

If everything were easy, would satisfaction and personal fulfilment exist? I dare say no.

If everything were easy, would we learn from mistakes? I also believe not.

Failure is part of the process, it is essential and it happens to everyone (even everyone), but celebrating small/big achievements as well. To motivate us to continue growing ...

Social media is such an odd construct!! Truly!! It's definitely a 'calling card" that as a business owner I have to manage carefully - even if I WAS ever having a bad day, I'd think very hard about posting or sharing it online. And if I did, the HOW of that would really matter.

Hive is different, but it's also immutable. Which means you can't just come on over and delete it later. So it's managed even MORE deliberately.

Interesting thoughts. Lovely images.

The tendency of the new social media apps that are appearing are more ephemeral, like the stories on Instagram and tiktok. It's only seconds, it's cultivating a society of fast food, fast content, fast whatever. Now people are getting bored faster with more slow content or lifestyle activities. Even among children they have difficulty to maintain attention for long periods because.
Society is shifting again, as normal and as before.

I personally love the fails. I wish there was more realistic content on these various sites.I think that's why Hive is unique, because one could share both their failures and successes, and both types of content will be appreciated here.

Yes, we learn a lot with testing and failing. It's how nature works and how scientific progress is made also.
Hive is supportive and not judging as social media we all know.
