Stop, breath in, breath out, notice it and accept it

It is difficult to accept when a situation doesn’t happen as expected when we break our expectations when someone doesn’t live up to what we idealized…

It is common to feel nonconformity, revolt, helplessness, sadness. Sometimes we even feel it in such a deep way that it suffocates us, and that is the feeling that you need to get rid of.

A challenging situation does have the potential to be lived in a more neutral way if we know how to accept that we do not have total control over life and its events.

I could use the term “negative situation” instead of challenging, but...

  • What is a negative situation for sure?

  • Is it really negative or did you define it to be negative just because it didn't bring you what you expected?

The fact that you have created expectations about something does not make those expectations necessarily what you need in your life to evolve, they are just what you think you need, what you decided to want.

Our head has an immense potential to cling to ideas about people and situations in such a “realistic” way that we feel completely groundless when things happen differently than we imagined. This is because we really believe that they would happen as we idealized.

Being caught off guard, and often being disappointed, we end up developing very dense emotions in our chest, and sometimes we can't get rid of them. We spin around inside ourselves trying to find a justification, an excuse, to feed the pain of disappointment in a thousand different ways. Some people may even begin to react disproportionately to other events around them.

The only way to get rid of these denser emotions when they arise (because they will arise, you will not become immune) is to accept them and let them go.

What you cannot change with actions, you will not change with sadness or discomfort.

It looks basic, and it also looks like a utopia. But if I can do it, you can do it too. From the moment you accept what you cannot change, from the heart, everything will start to flow better. Each situation will only be experienced at the moment.
