Saludos a toda la comunidad de Hive. Hoy con un día bastante fresco en mi amada tierra andina, les vengo a mostrar una hermosa planta, llamada popularmente " Boca de la Vieja ", boca de dragón, por la forma de su flor. Aquí en Venezuela la llamamos "Angelón".

Greetings to all the Hive community. Today with a rather cool day in my beloved Andean land, I come to show you a beautiful plant, popularly called " Boca de la Vieja ", dragon's mouth, because of the shape of its flower. Here in Venezuela we call it "Angelón".

Cuenta la leyenda, que en Quintana Roo un estado de México que antiguamente fue poblado por los mayas lo utilizaban como estimulante y es así como el famoso botánico Maximino Martínez en el siglo XX presenta la planta. Sus propiedades curativas, ayudan a prevenir enfermedades cardíacas y mentales, así como también el Alzheimer.

Legend has it that in Quintana Roo, a state of Mexico that was formerly populated by the Mayas, they used it as a stimulant and that is how the famous botanist Maximino Martinez in the twentieth century presented the plant. Es una planta ornamental y originaria de México, pero la hay por en toda américa. Sus hermosas flores son parecidas a las orquídeas. Los colores de las flores van desde lavanda, blanco, rosa, violeta, bicolores; tiene un sabor amargo.

Es una planta que se reproduce muy fácil, al sol o la sombra, es muy resistente a las plagas. Sus tallos son de color verde. Las flores nacen de sus espigas, crecen entre caminos y sabanas, tienen un perfume muy suave y afrutado.

Contiene en sus raíces un componente llamado Lupeol que es un compuesto antiinflamatorio muy conocido.
