The Canon T50 – point and shoot with benefits

I got this camera on an Austrian online marketplace called willhaben.(wanna have)

Since then it has been my favorite to go camera.

When it comes to film photography you you often are in the dilemma of setting aperture and shutter speed. Well not with this baby, you rather like it or not but she is a fan of setting shutter speed and aperture as she likes. It measures the light conditions and gives you warning signals in the viewfinder if light is not enough. You can trick the cam by adjusting the aperture ring from automatic to whatever you want but careful because shutter speed is going to stick to a 60th of a second now. So you will have to chose aperture accordingly.

This is actually a nice feature if you want to take quick snapshots. you will not have to worry about the right settings and only have to adjust your focus manually. You can plug on any FD mount lens and thats great. You have the power of interchangeable lenses but also the freedom of a point and shoot camera. Focus is the only adjustment you have to make. (not an easy task)

You can adjust the film speed as well. So if you want to underexpose on a bright day you could trick the program by telling the camera you have a faster film loaded.

The outcome can be totally random at some times.

If you already own FD lenses you can find a body from 30€ upwards. There is also two newer models the T70 and the T80 I am not familiar with those but I will tell you when I found and tried some.

Enjoy the pics all taken with this very nice addition to my collection.

wow never heard about this point and shot before.
sounds like a must-have camera especially with more wide-angle lenses its possible to pre-focus to a specific distance, to be closer, and to forget about the focusing process.
beautiful collection of the results you got

It is easy to handle and it has automatic film transport, I forgot to mention that. Good solution with the wide angle pre focus. Have to get myself a 16mm 1.8 if there is any in the FD family. I will have to research-

for the zone focusing technique, you don't need f/1.4 or f/2 aperture due to the smaller hyperfocal distance. something like 3.5-4 can work great :-)

You will need the aperture in lowlight conditions, cam will adjust shutterspeed to slow if your lens is not fast enough. You of course always can use a flash.

it will be too difficult to find any 16mm with F/1.8
not usual for this Focal Length
