  • Creating A Template for your series
  • Creating a Lead Capture Page
  • Promoting your Page
  • Engaging with your subscribers

Creating an Email Series

Let’s talk about creating your email series and the structure that you should have with your emails and your email scheduling –
I have written a few posts about this – look at my blog @russellstockley – We will go over some of the steps again here.
The first email in the series

When a subscriber signs up to your list through your Lead Capture Page (which will be discussed in a future Post) and has verified their subscription they will then receive the first email from you.

In Traffic Wave to create an email in your campaign navigate to the campaign by first clicking on Campaign Manger

Select your campaign and open it up – and then click on the Letters Tab

Once on the letters page, you will see any previously created letters for that campaign, you will also If you have not created any letters yet then there will be no list,
You now click on Create New Letter

At this point a pop up window will appear that asks do you want to use an existing template or start with a blank letter.
Start with a blank letter, we will discuss creating a template in another Post and we can edit this blank letter to your template at a later stage

Now that you are on the open letter page you can start to type into the box, as soon as you start typing you will see the options for formatting appear

This email should not be a hard sell, in fact it should be an introduction email. It should be thanking them for becoming a subscriber and participating in your Newsletters.

You should be introducing yourself and explaining what the Newsletters will contain, the frequency that they should expect to receive them and an invitation for them to also participate in sharing their journey as well as sharing yours.

The email should also contain a Free Gift of some sort. There are numerous E-Books that you can offer, or you can create your own or even offer them some advertising, Free Starbucks Coffee Voucher, or offer to send them a free gift if they provide their mailing address. Whatever you offer them as an incentive to join your list is up to you but don’t let it break your bank.

When you have written your first email, give it a name and then save

Once saved this will take you back to the Letters Page where you can set the day you want this letter to go to your subscribers

That is your first letter in your email series created

This introductory email should be sent on the same day they sign up, so schedule it to do so.

The reason that this first email is not a hard sell is because quite often when we Push too hard we push things away.

This approach of introducing yourself is allowing your subscriber to know who you are and what they can expect from you.

This allows them to gain more ownership in the decision they make to stay with you and sparks an interest in them to find out more about you and what you are about, this holds their attention and engages with them to stay with you.

This is called Pull Marketing and is quite effective allowing your subscribers to have more information to be able to make conscious decisions.

There is a lot of devote about the difference between Push and Pull marketing and the space that we need to be in is the middle road. There becomes the right time to do some pushing.

Think of it like fishing, there is a time to pull hard on the line and a time to relax the line and a good fisher person will tell you that patience is definitely the key to bringing in the Big One.

So be patient, you have a subscriber and they will always be there provided you offer them engagement and ownership to their own decisions.

The difference between success and failure in this process is in the Follow Up.

We will discuss creating your lead capture page in a later post.

In my next post we will discuss creating a Template for your email series – this will save time down the track and help Brand your series.
