A letter to a member requesting as to what promotions work and what doesn't

Below is a reply I have just sent to a members request as to what works when promoting their site at my site.

Hello

Once upon a time Traffic Exchanges were great places for getting a great ROI - however, most sites these days are just click click click places.

What I have found personally works for myself and for many of the members of my sites is that they are first and foremost promoting themselves.

People want to be engaged with a person and want to know more and more about that person,

Just as you have reached out in this email. Getting to know someone and what programs actually works for them is paramount to achieving some level of success.

As a site owner, I promote my sites but not directly, I promote my List first and then promote my sites through the back end.

Sites such as Traffic Exchanges and Viral mailers work well for me in promoting my list and this is the feedback I get from my members as well.

If you are promoting other sites through TE's etc then the page needs to be super dynamic, instant capture as most people are using TE's etc just click clicking and not paying a great deal of attention.

I get great results through a number of TE's and Viral Mailers but I promote my list only and then I promote my sites through the list as well as other programs that I have found to be successful in giving me returns.

I am always honest in my email series as to what level of success I get from my promotions at different sites.

I have been list building for just on 15 years now and have quite a substantial list that not only participates in what I promote but also feeds back what they see as working for them, which in turn I promote on their behalf.

Its great that you are keeping stats on your promotions as that is a key to finding what works and what doesn't. You could also try split testing, promoting the same site with a different designed splash page and see .

What works for some and what some people like, or see as dynamic, isn't necessarily the case for others

Hey Russell @russellstockley! I have enjoyed being on your list for years. I learned a long time ago the importance of building your list and engaging with the that join. It is most important to find out what the individuals like, want and don't want. You more than likely have or now how to obtain those things and the people on your list appreciate very much when you help them get it.
