The CTP Curation Trail by ph1102

My work for ThisIsAwesome has helped me to "see" a lot of issues that we have on the platform, and I don't mean only on CTPTalk, but also the Hive in general... I was already talked about some of the issues and how to solve them... But... All the time, I was aware of the problem of low rewards for some great posts, and a poor exposure that they are getting...

Sometimes, the problem is in the titles, or thumbnails of the posts, and that can be solved by raising awareness of those two important things... But sometimes, it is just a problem of too many posts, where some great posts got lost in the swarm...

If you add to all this the problem that newcomers have when they come to the platform, the mess gets even worse... When we are longer in the community, we tend to watch/read stuff from our friends daily, which is normal... But, doing that, we very often forget to "give a chance" to someone who has just come to our community, and we skip their content, without even looking...

That can be fatal for the newcomer as it can de-motivate it to continue posting, and finally, leave our tribe...

These things are happening regularly in all tribes on Hive, and Hive in general... If we take a deeper look, we will notice that some people aren't here with us anymore... Maybe because of personal reasons, but some of them because of the reasons that I have mentioned before...

As I do manual curation of the majority of the post on the CTPTalk, I saw a lot of posts that are great but have like 4-5 upvotes in total... Picking them for ThisIsAwesome helps a bit to raise awareness, but I think that upvoting them with the curation trail would be even more effective, motivating, and encouraging for the authors...

That was one of the main reasons why I have created the CTP Curation Trail... It is specifically created for upvoting CTPTalk content ONLY (posts using "ctp" tag), and it will benefit not only the authors on the platform but also the curators who want to grow their CTP tokens through curation...

I just want to make a statement that all curation is done manually by me, which means that I read/watch the majority of the posts that are upvoted... That guarantees that ONLY the quality posts will be upvoted with a higher percentage! By doing that, I think that all of us can "profit" as more valuable posts will be visible, and by consuming them, we will grow faster...

Also, another effect should be that people will see that we appreciate QUALITY before just "friendly-circle-upvoting"...

I hope that you will like the idea and follow the trail. You can do that by logging in on the https://hive.vote/ website, clicking on the CURATION TRAIL menu on the left sidebar, and searching for a trail named "ph1102.ctptrail" (without @) (or click here https://hive.vote/dash.php?trail=ph1102.ctptrail), and follow it... I will create a tutorial soon for easier understanding...

I have recorded the video 2 days ago, and I didn't think that I will set up all this so fast... I was too excited to prolonged it more, so ignore the part where I'm saying that I will give you more details in the next posts... :) The CTP Trail is ready, and I have used it for upvoting in the last 24-48 hours... The account name is @ph1102.ctptrail

PS. I know that @bradleyarrow has his curation trail, but it is more focused on the IAAC members, and they are not all part of the CTP Swarm... It is a more Hive based curation trail, so they are not "compete" with each other...

Will my upvotes be replaced if I manually upvoted a post?
No. In other tools if you upvote any post twice with different upvote weights, the first upvote is overriden by the second upvote. In the Hive.vote this problem is fixed. You can upvote any post manually before applying auto upvotes and the manual vote will not be overriden.

So, on Hive.vote, the first upvote takes it all... all the others are skipped... It says manual upvote, but it's the same for any upvote..

People that don't have staked CTP tokens will not get CTP curation rewards... but maybe they will see posts and be curious... lol... :)

This is just my opinion there is to much curation stuff going on and I cant keep track of all the names of all the people you are suppose to mention let alone all the tags. Then someone else was making a comment that they all look the same and have same thumbnails and such, if I was a new person I would really be discouraged. Just my thoughts

The curation trail is like help for you to earn easier... You set it up and you earn money by automatically upvoting other's content...

So, in a nutshell, I check posts, pick the best ones, and you automatically follow my upvote, and earn money... In this case, I'm doing manual work for others, and you earning money being a part of a trail...

Creators are happy as they are earning more, and they are feeling appreciated that their work is recognized... Curators earning more as they are using their voting power even if they are not online...

So it's a win-win...

Love this! It is nice to have two different trails that focus on two different aspects of the blockchain. It is great to have recognition for content creators that put their all into their quality videos, blogs, etc within the CTPTalk community.

This might also pique the curiosity of others not on the trail as well. :)

Yes I saw this @ph1102.ctptrail upvoting me, and then @jongolsen was talking about it on #CryptoMonday so then I decided to join.
I love curationtrails it is passive income, so it is great.

This is a great idea, I am on Bradley's trail already and he has joined your trail so as long as he is there I should be voting within the CTP trail. It doesn't make sense to me to join both, but if he quits the trail for what ever reason I will definitely join the CTP trail.

As I can see, you should pay attention on your % of upvotes.. :) As your Voting Power is way under 70%... The ideal numbers for VP are around 85-95%... I don't know your setup inside the Hive.vote, but maybe you should put a limit around 80-85%...

Bradley is following the CTPTrail with 50%, so if you are following his trail 50%, that would make your vote 25% :)...

Too much math and nerdiness :D :D

Thank you for your trust and kind words! This is the CTPTrail on the first place, for maximizing CTP tokens earning in the first place... But as it grows, I think that HIVE curation will also become significant...

Great initiative man. You are by far the best curator out there and it's great that you offer the community the possibility to follow your trail. I've set my ctp account on the trail at scaled 100% but it will vote only if it is above 90% voting power since I need some votes for upvoting comments :-).

Thanks for your kind words... Doing my best to pick the best posts for upvotes...

Regarding the math, I will try to keep VotingPower of the trail always around 85-95%, so, if someone is following with 100% (and doesn't do additional upvoting) will have the maximized curation rewards...

Still tuning the trail, but I think I will get there... :)

I'm inches away from 10K. That's not a lot compared to your CTP holdings, but I'm happy with this accomplishment, given that I'm not a regular poster in CTP.

No problem at all... I'm also tuning up the trail to use the maximum for the followers... You can count that the trail will use all the voting power for 24hours if you are following with 100%... So, you can make calculations according to that... ;) I will try to keep it between 85-95% VP as I do with my own account...

Thanks for following the trail... I didn't check where you have more CTP tokens, but I would suggest you use that account on the CTP trail for better results...

I have created the trail specifically for the CTP tribe and maximizing those rewards... It doesn't mean that you will not get HIVE curation rewards, I just want to say that the priority is on the CTP tokens...
