The Road Less Traveled

Sometimes we feel as if we just disappear into the masses. Nothing we do is special. Everything we do is just...well, normal. It feels like we can never achieve anything special. Every day is just the same...and the results we get are the same as everybody else's...

What can we do to change that?

Well, how about "swimming upstream" for a change? Instead of following the crowds, do something different.

Instead of being concerned with everybody else's opinion, why don't you do some research of your own about something you really believe in?

If you invested $1.00 in Bitcoin 10 years ago, that $1.00 would have turned into a small fortune now. But everybody said it was a scam back then...so you didn't do anything.

In 2017 everybody was talking about the "Bitcoin bubble" and how the price would come crashing down. I know, I was one of those who bought a little and then sold again in 2018...because I was also scared of being..."irresponsible"...

Why? Well, everybody else would have thought so...

Or let's even get more real here... I thought they would think so.

I did my research, but "who do I think I am when everybody else around me thinks it's too risky"?

But, if you look at the "helicopter-view", by zooming out and look at the bigger picture, you will see that the BTC chart is consistently forming higher highs and higher lows.

Last year I started paying more attention, doing my own research, and becoming more serious about what I believe.

I learned about dollar-averaging into Bitcoin (or any other cryptocurrency for that matter).

I invested a small amount into Bitcoin in October 2020 and made a deposit in a BlockFi account where I can also earn interest on my Bitcoin.

Other than that I continuously dollar average into bitcoin with a small amount every month and the results...well, I can tell you that I am smiling ear to ear...

This all happened since I got involved here on the #hive blockchain, which helped me to gain knowledge and understanding, developing more confidence in what I believe in.

I learned about other projects such as the #CTP tokens and #LeoFinance amongst others.

Now, when people get this "vague", far-off expression when I talk about crypto, or they try to tell me how crazy I am, it doesn't bother me anymore.

You can't believe in anything if you don't study it and do your own research about it. And once you gain that knowledge and the confidence to really believe in something, the opinion of the uninformed doesn't really matter that much anymore...lol.

It's funny how people who gave you that far-off look before, now become interested and even start asking questions about cryptocurrencies. I actually have family members now walking up to me and ask me "can I ask you a crypto-related question?"

Not that I am an expert yet! Far from it! But at least I can share what I have learned (and I normally get a "that sounds interesting" response), and if it's something I don't know, we can learn together.

So, the question remains; which road are you going to take. The road less traveled (based on what you believe), or are you just going to follow the crowd?
