Inspirational Monday (3) - Everything is about choices.

I am not a product of my circumstances, I am a product of my decisions.png

We often hear people referring to other people as being "lucky".

When someone is successful in any specific activity, whether it is sports, business, or whatever, he/she is "lucky". Or "he was just at the right place at the right time".

It makes me think of a well-written post I have recently read of @ph1102 where he was talking about the same thing. You can read it here.

Yet, these people who point out other people's "luck", are normally having a hard time finding success in anything for themselves.

And there is always an excuse. They never had the opportunity. Or they don't have the money. Circumstances are never right, but always bad.

Well, what if I tell you that your circumstances don't have to have the final say in what your destination is.

Yes, circumstances might not always be favorable (for the moment)...but instead of saying "I can't afford it", rather say "let's see what I can do to afford it". Instead of saying "I don't have money to start my business", say something like "what can I do to raise money"? Or better even, "Can I find a way to start without money in my pocket?"

There are countless examples of extremely successful business people who started with nothing but determination.

There are people who are confined to a wheelchair, but they are doing well in their own businesses.

Just the other day I saw this video of excellent guitar music. Check the guy's fingers on the right (in front of the motorcycle). If you ever want to say "I can't" again, just think of this guy.

There are athletes who nobody wanted to give a chance, but they pushed through and ended up becoming world champions.

Do not allow your circumstances to determine your destination. Make a decision to rise above your circumstances.

It will take will-power, determination, and hard work. But forget about "luck". Refuse to accept "circumstances". And above all, stop looking at other people and think they were "lucky". There is no such thing.

So make a decision to start creating your own destiny.

Maybe it will be easier if we do it one day at a time. Think of it this way; "I am a product today of the decisions I made yesterday".

I hope this was useful. Enjoy your week!

great article. Love the quote from Stephen covey. I got to hear him speak once at my university right before he died. Learned a lot from that guy.
