For me...

It depends on the topic within business.

But I'd go with the book every business person needs to read...

Seth Godin's Purple Cow

It's that important!

You mentioned it the other night in your webinar.
It is on my list to get right away.

I have not read a lot of business books per say. mostly self improvement.
I would have to say Think and grow rich by Napolean Hill and Rich dad poor dad by Robert Kiyosaki.
They impressed me a lot when I first read them and I have re read them a couple of times.
They are a good place to begin for sure

Rich Dad is a staple of my personal library!

Rich Dad Poor Dad is a phenomenal read.
It helped me understand that I had a poor dad outlook on life.
Both of them are great but this one for sure

Ya I read it when it came out and then bought a few of the sequels.
They are really good also.
Thanks for commenting.

Hello everyone! Another CTPChat for us to rock on!

I've been kicking you guys to come here to chat and then I don't lead by example and comment more, that's more than a shame! But I'll do my best to change it!

Here are the stats of yesterday chat:

61 Comments and 143,45 CTP Tokens were distributed

I had to add a couple of comments on yesterday's chat to compensate my slack somehow lol

Even though there are fewer comments, most of them are really rich in ideas that everyone should at least look at them! So don't just come by for the chat of the day, take a look at the others, you might learn something or even better get some ideas into practice and turn into a blog post or something :)

Keep up the awesome work!

Hopefully we can bump it back up to around 100 comments a day :)

I prefer to think that if you can get around 10 comments a day from 10 people then your at 100 easily. But I don't know if I can even get 10 comments over here normally since I only check 1-2 times a day usually.

Lol. Comments are great for blog posts but I don't read many business books so I feel left out. I am just doing a normal run to give some comments on things that I feel like I can talk about.

I like to ask the questions I have here .
It is easier to read the threads.
This was a great idea.

Speaking of books...@jongolson can you write down in the comments the books you recommended on last week's Thursday Night Live?
Might be helpful for some :)
I can't because I already have a handful to read ahaha

You subliminally suggested that I talk about “Crush It” by Gary Vee! I see what you did there.

My book is gonna be “Getting Things Done” by David Allen. Who doesn’t love squeezing more value out of every precious hour? Time is money!

That's a book I've seen recommended for years, and I've never read....Thanks man, going to go order it now.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I don't have a best of it because I just started reading business books so I'll go with what I already read and I loved it!

IMG_20200907_143821.jpg

Because...If I didn't show up every day to keep myself on people's top of mind, I'm pretty sure that CTP Blueprint wouldn't have the same success as it had on launch day almost a year ago!

And I didn't know about the book at that time!

So...this show up and provide good value thing works!
And that book helps on that :)

Realistically? The Bible, hands down.

You can't even think about being an moral business person without morals (and yes I am discussing morals NOT ethics, although that distinction is a completely different discussion). :D

There's quite a bit to learn in there from a business perspective, especially in Proverbs.

With all due respect, I don't think business should be mixed with religion.
You can of course learn the morals of the Book but I believe it's more for the person and not for a business.
And not everyone on Hivesphere will read it due to the variety of cultures.
I'm in the middle of the Proverbs myself but I'm reading the Bible to understand the history around it, it's a personal experience I would not relate to business.
But that's me :)

I 100% respect your opinion but disagree as well.

I don't mix religion and business on Hive, but I certainly do feel (personally) as the question was asked "What's the best business book you've ever read?" that my answer of the Bible is a completely valid answer, as do many others (just Google it).

Business and religion mixes all the time with Christian non-profit organizations who feed and clothe the homeless and less fortunate, etc.

And not everyone on Hivesphere will read it due to the variety of cultures.

I wasn't answering for the Hivesphere. Only me. :)

I will, however, agree with you that I dislike the mixing of Christianity and business that causes the cheapening of my religion to a price tag. Places that merchandise Christianity bug me. I don't wear my religion on my shirt sleeve, and hardly ever mention it. This isn't the place for that, and I agree with that sentiment, and still believe my opinion was valid.

Maybe I'm too used to see people misusing Religion which is sad and never got myself into it because of that.
Didn't mean to say it was invalid, sorry.
But as long as it is in the good hands I guess you can use it to what your spirit and faith tell you to do.
I'm still learning about the "other side of the coin" :p

Eliana,

You n me are gold. I have no problem at all with your opinion. I'm one of the ones who will defend your right to express yourself, even if I don't myself believe what you believe. We still get the opportunity to have a very good conversation on here. :)

I myself worked for a Christian 'business', - a non profit drug rehab center and got to see the good, bad, and the ugly side of Christians doing business.

BTW, thanks for being so gracious on here. It matters.

Aw shucks! Thank you for the kind words!
It's always difficult for me to talk about such delicate topics without offending anyone lol
So is good to know that we can talk without fighting much :p

I have John C. Maxwell's Leadership Bible....Which is pretty cool how he takes leadership lessons throughout scripture and puts them into today's day and age.

I tend to be on the 'don't mix business with religion' fence, but at the same time, am not ashamed of my faith and do talk it about it in the right time and place.

But like you said...Sometimes it feels cheapened, when people throw religion in the mix and brings that awkward 'pitch' to a business environment.

My favorite is The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey is both a business and self-help book. The book was first published in 1989. The seven habits are 1- Be Proactive, 2- Begin with the End in Mind, 3- Put First Things First, 4- Think Win-Win, 5- Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood, 6- Synergize and last be not least 7- Sharpen the Saw.
Each one of these topics can be expanded upon but just like any good book you need to apply the provided information for them to add value to your business and/or your life.

Question: I need help understanding the process of claiming rewards/tokens that are earned. Sometimes when I claim them it works and other times it does not or only a few of the various tokens that I have earned are added to my account. On different frontends, some of the token rewards are reflected and on other frontends some other ones show up. I get confused which frontend I should go to claim which tokens. Could anyone share the best frontend to use and/or best process to follow to claim tokens? Thanks in advance.

I believe some frontends, if not all, have the claiming automatic, like CTP so you should be fine.
The best place to check all your second-layer tokens, or Hive-engine tokens is checking them on https://hive-engine.com/
You can check all you have and on the top right where your username is should have a drop-down menu and click Rewards.
You will have a list of the pending rewards and if you scroll down should have a Claim all button
I normally don't use it because sometimes seems not working but I believe it's because of the automation.
Don't worry, you won't lose your rewards and eventually will get to your account :)
There are also other frontends for checking all the tokens like https://tribaldex.com and https://leodex.io. Just need to log in with keychain in either.

Thanks. That explains why my CTP would show up in my account while the others would not. I always wanted to claim my rewards and stake them prior to starting out the day with any voting so that the vote value would be higher. thanks again.

I think the biggest issue for people is if you don't have the minimum payout then it stays inside the system until you manually claim.

Also you need to wait like 24 hours before you can claim after your previous manual claim.

That explains why my request failed a few times when I tried to claim, I didn't wait the 24 hours. I started just claiming each morning.

Yea I think I claimed everyday when I started but I didn't see much point in doing so after a while. I tend to just leave it alone and let it come to me after I have enough.

Yes, it is! I remember most of the commercials for the products he talks about in the beginning of the book! It's okay to be biased for good stuff.😀

This is a great chat to look at everyone's replies and find a book that interests you. Most, if not all, also have audio versions that you can listen to if you are not that interested in reading.

I am still new.
Does Hive power make CTP go up also?
I have not quite figured out all of it yet.
I am going to have to study up on it to get up to speed.
CTP was my intro to this whole platform and at the time I joined it was Steem.

Hive and CTP are like two different wallets so they grow separately.
It is important to grow both because Hive is the "mother token" and CTP...well I'm biased but it is important for me to grow ;)
