I just did a post yesterday about the 'journey'...

This is important in not only content creation but being an entrepreneur in general.

What is one thing you could tell someone that is just starting their journey, that could help them stay the course and keep pushing forward?

.
Looking forward to reading your replies to this question and helping our community...Have a rewarding journey!

The one thing you could tell someone that is just starting their journey would be is to create a long term vision of where they want to be in 1, 5, then 10 years. Having a vision and documenting why you want to achieve in those timelines is one way of staying on track. Also, I would have them get a mentor as they will help them with the accountability aspect. A mentor will offer support when needed, motivation when it is low and encouragement when challenges are faced.

I find it hard to keep to my vision sometimes. There are so many things that I need to do that it is easy to forget.
Thank you for this reminder

I agree with that. The here and now is so easy to get lost in it is hard to focus on something that is years and years away. Just remember you have a goal to have another business that brings in enough so that you do not have to be in construction for years and years to come.

Show up every day even if it is only for 15 to 20 minutes for the 3C's (content creation, commenting, and curation) Each day builds another layer. Even though it may be very thin right now, it will get thicker and thicker with time. Just look at @jongolson he has built incredible holdings by following those simple steps. Start small end big and keep growing.

I'll see myself in myself that I'm also a short time away.
Take it easy don't just go for the go
Knowing that everything has its time. It is not possible to invest today to be rich tomorrow.
Triage to know what is really important, part of the illusion.
Thinking, informing, knowing and understanding the project from which to invest.
Do not fall into the temptation of immediate wealth. Everything has its time.

I would tell them that they need to take each day as it comes, stay in the moment and embrace the bad with the good because there will be bad days and tears and frustration but with a supportive community there will be fun and positive reinforcement and other good stuff too. Don't give up on yourself.

Constancy and patience, if you feel frustrated as it has happened to me several times when I have just started a project and I don't achieve my goals. Analyze and seek advice to find a better way to achieve your goals and you will see the rewards at the end of the road both financially and intellectually. Never think short term, nothing is achieved instantly.

Ohhh patience.

Such an easy word to say but so hard to master.

Great points!!

Be consistent, make plans with S.M.A.R.T goals and then execute, execute, execute! Don't let other people's successes or failures change your mind about what you think is right for you! It's ok and even recommended to learn from other people's experiences, but that doesn't mean you must follow the exact same steps they did because each person's journey is unique and there is no single path to success!

We can sometimes be our own worst enemy.

If we are second guessing ourselves each day...The SMART goals are so important to keep focused.

Good words to live by. I have not kept up with my SMART goals.
Tomorrow I get back to consistency

My advice is simple yet might give some head scratches...

Start

Whatever is on your mind, just jump to it!
Most of the time we tend to think too much, being afraid, giving excuses, doing something else out of the focus, or procrastinate.

You will suck no matter what BUT if you are surrounded by a supportive community, they will accept you no anyway and help you grow!

Enjoy the ride and embrace the suck

Stop waiting for perfection. Just start!

Awesome advice. Sometimes I think that what is on my mind at the time is not what I need to do.
Thanks Eliana

I would say patience is the best thing. When you start off, you will probably fail a lot as you learn and build up your own brand/business. At least it was that way for me on HIVE after coming here from Splinterlands.

Plan to Fail

Nobody likes to talk about failing let alone plan for it. This can be a confusing concept. In business, things go wrong all of the time. Keeping that in mind you can do all of the right things make all of the correct decisions, and yet boom failure!

In my world, it looks like this:

  1. What would I do if I could not sell on eBay for any reason?
  2. What if I was denied access to my PayPal account?
  3. Do I have enough diversified income streams, to survive an emergency?

A failure contingency plan will help to ensure the survival of your new business.

Very good advice. I feel the same way about google mail. What would I do if I lost all my gmail accounts? This has been a big question for me because I no longer trust google

I would say be patient. Don't expect to get rich overnight.
