The Dark Side of Email Marketing - The Spam Folder

Hello fellow Padawans!

You give so much effort into creating an email, only for it to land in the spam folder!

So here's a very easy solution:

Email more often (the right way)!

I know...you might be thinking that will make people report your emails as spam right away! It's a big fear you probably have about emailing 'too much'.

Makes total sense, right? Here's why not...

Have you ever subscribed to an email list and within a few days you've forgotten who they are or why you're on their list? That's the problem.

Someone joins your list today and then only reads from you occasionally. Or once a month.

Then you turn up, out of the blue, pitching.

THAT is the moment you get all the spam complaints, unsubscribe, and disengagement.

People just forget who you are and why they joined your list in the first place.

Instead, you need to show up more often.

Be there for your subscribers.

Become a valuable part of their day-to-day life, through email. And they will even appreciate your pitch email eventually!

That's how you maintain maximum engagement and sales - and earn your place in the inbox, as long as you do the email part right!

May the Force be with YOU!

I've been able to build up an email list of over 4000 people, it took me ages but now its starting to compound faster each month which is exciting, people give up in the early stages but those 1's and 2's build up over time

That is awesome! Hope they are responsive and you are keeping the engagement flowing to avoid the list turn "cold". The list is your best friend for business 😁 thank you for sharing!

Interesting, generally I heard the opposite.

Yeah it's the fear of email too much could get into being spammy but I also don't mean 2 or 3 times a day lol but once a day or even every two days is enough. This is more for people that only email like once a month or less and expect results from it. What matters is the relationship building and engagement, pretty much like creating posts and engage here on hive. Would you remember me if I only post once a month? If you wanna build some kind of reputation you need to create some consistency. Hope I made sense! Thank you for commenting!

You are right about pitching... Affiliate marketing people usually or send often emails with different offers (non-stop pitching), or like you said... out of the blue, pitch! And that leads to the SPAM folder...

That reminds me of those people on the streets trying to sell selfie sticks and gadgets to tourists. I remember those when I was visiting Rome..they were very stubborn! I know that we need to generate money and all but aggressive selling is just not good, at least I don't feel comfortable doing it lol
Generating content and engagement consistently just like we do on the blockchain builds reputation and relationships, the sales will come naturally :)
Thank you, Mister Awesome II 😁

Well, it works with people who can't say NO... If not, they will not doing it... :) And it is perfect as they saw you then, and probably never again... so, they don't care about the reputation...

If you can generate new email subscribers every day, to replace the old ones, maybe it can work... But, as you said, reputation is a key...

It is a work in progress, I don't have a big list but I prefer having a quality few than a bunch of inactive. But it's up to me to keep the consistency and improve my reputation.
I'll keep working the best I can :)
I do have a couple of spares of selfie sticks that I could sell 🤣🤣

Wow that is really great advice Eliana, and it makes total sense too, and seems that I do it the right way, my subscribers either saves Unicorns and hopefully read them too, or they unsubscribe, but I do not get spam complaints, I do get emails with questions and even some thanks every now and then from my subscribers.

That is awesome Erik! That's a good sign of a very responsive list! I believe you do just right! And saving Unicorns is the cherry on the top 😝
Keep up the good work!
