Have you tried 'ASARO' delicacy, Sweet Potato porridge🍜 😋
Just this afternoon i was craving for a food i grew up to eat since i was small, used to be one of my favorites food known as 'Asaro' sweet potato porridge and i decided to share, its preparation, nutritional value and why i think you'all should try it out.
- sometimes 'Asaro' can be yam porridge or yam and beans porridge, also it can sweet potatoes porridge or sweet potato with beans.
This particular one is sweet potato with beans porridge,
Because beans is highly gaseous and not so good for people with heartburn thats what brought about 'Asaro' so that cooking & eating the beans with the sweet potatoe can reduce the gaseous state of the beans.
It is called Asaro by the yoruba tribe of Nigeria.
Ingredients needed;
- sweet potatoes
- beans
- red oil
- seasoning cube
- chilli or bonnet pepper🥫🌶
- onion🌰
- salt
- Crayfish
- dried/smoked fish
Preparations;
Asaro is very easy to prepare and not time consuming.
Because beans take much time to soften, We'll start by boiling the beans in a pot,cut in your onions and while the beans is boiling peel and cut the sweet potatoe into small cubes, wash thoroughly and add these together with the beans to boil for some minutes
then add the other ingredients, the dried/smoked fish, the chilli/blended pepper, the seasoning cube,salt and then red oil , stir together properly so that the ingredients can be even and balanced, close the pot very firmly and leave the beans and the sweet potatoe to be soft and very tender, you can add more water to have this.
In less than an hour the 'Asaro' is ready and ready to be served
- Don't forget beans is a very rich source of protein and sweet potato contains necessary minerals and vitamins for the body, so the combinations is highly beneficial to the body.
