This takes off from the first part of exploring the Central Market in Phnom Penh. You can visit it here:

Market Friday Goes to the Phsar Thmei (Central Market)

We needed to get lost a bit in order to find what we were looking for. Apparently, we got to the wet market part of Central Market.

Pardon the somewhat blurred shots as we were walking fast. Just clicked on the photos without waiting for the lens to focus first. We really were not sure if taking photos is allowed in this part of the market.

So we found the part where fresh fruits and vegetables were sold. The market actually reminded me of the ones back home.

Going further, we got to the part where meat and livestocks were sold. It's definitely not my favorite part of the market. Even back home, I preferred buying meat from the grocers (specialty stores like Monterey Meat Shop).

Towards the end of this part of the wet market, we finally found what we were looking for. These were local dried products that would be perfect for souvenirs. My daughter planned on buying palm sugar (local delicacy) to take home for giveaways to her office mates.

In the process, we also found some jackfruit chips. All these were products of Cambodia. It's really good to see locally produced items and to try them out for ourselves.

We found another entrance / exit to the market. We were not sure though how far this was from where we entered. We decided to retrace our steps back to where we came from. It's a good thing we were pretty good with remembering the places we have passed.

Here's the marker at the main entrance of Central Market. Glad we found our way back without a hitch.

What a great post @iamraincrystal! Cambodia is one of those places that I have not gotten to, but, was making my way to. I am so glad you got to go there!

For those people who do not know what a wet market is, but a wet market is a complex of stalls selling fish, meat and wild animals altogether. It makes for an interesting mix and a jumble of goods in an organized mess, although Central Market is rumored to be quite nice. That is what I hear and it looks that way in your pictures.

Thank you for taking the time to make such a wonderful post. As an aside, the Central Market is where most tourists go so they expect pictures to be taken. I know it is hard to tell sometimes how they will feel about it! When I say tourists, I mean there is another market that all the locals go to which is bargain-basement prices. Central Market is supposed to be their nicest market.

Thank you again! MarketFriday loves you!
