Of Musings and Wishes

It's a cool Sunday up here. I hear the birds chirping and chorusing outside. Pretty nice to wake up to such natural melodies, indicating a new day has come for us to live once more. This gal is truly grateful.

Yesterday evening, I was teasing the husband that we should go for a road trip. It's been a while since we last had one and my soul and itchy feet are yearning for a quick getaway. Even just a short drive, to some place we haven't been to before - a farm, the next town, a mountain, or something.

"We will, but not soon. I will have to get the brake checked," he said. I remembered there is a funny noise coming off when it is stepped on so my head nodded. "And I'm going to pick up my cousin tomorrow morning. He's coming over here," he continued.

Aah... So no one's going out, at least for today.

"On Tuesday then?" I teased further thinking he could bring the car to the shop on Monday and we can be on the road the following day. "Monday is a holiday so you know, the shops are closed. And Tuesday is scheduled for Mr. B's harvests," he explained.

My mind automatically went into counting mode. "Not a chance next week then..." I was talking to myself but only in my thoughts. "Maybe one day, it will just happen when I least expect it, as it did on previous occasions..." it went on I had to shush it out so it would stop or it would burst, lol!

The husband is used to doing stuff the long way even when there is a shorter and quicker option to do them. He also does it when speaking or narrating things, he's the type who beats around the bush so one has to have more ounces of patience and not interrupt until he finishes, lol!

I, on the other hand, mostly take the shortcut. When presented with a situation, my mind works to find the shortest possible route and then I'd do it. Maybe that's just how I was trained or 'wired' as some put it.

If we were to do one thing separately, I would be done in an hour and he would be in 3 or 4 or more. He does a lot of thinking and planning before he starts. I usually just let him be but at times, I'd offer to lend a hand or give some suggestions which he'd say, "I haven't thought of that!" On some occasions, he'd insist on what he thinks until he eventually finishes.

We do stuff differently but at the end of the day, we arrive at the same destination - one just takes a lot longer than the other. Nothing's wrong with it of course, it's just that at times, I can't stop wishing he would do things a little faster, lol!

Perhaps one day, he would.

Anyway, this print on the mat gave me a chuckle. It says, "Don't give up, the rest of my life is long."

So I will do just that.

There's so much more to enjoy to let small differences spoil the mood of the bright day.

Happy weekend!

I also think you didn't made any road trip recently because you didn't shared any post related to it. So make it fast 😅.

You are right about that, Inti. We did have one last month but to attend a graduation. Hope to have one soon :)

This makes me smile. My parents are like that too. One doing things differently and taking way longer time than the other. But they still arrive at the same result. It's quite charming that two different people can still work together and coexist.
I do hope you get that road trip soon enough dear friend. And maybe even spontaneously.🌺

Quite hilarious, yet adorable how you two are different but get along very well, especially in the regard of having different approaches to things. 😂

I do hope you both have that getaway soon.

Happy Sunday!

Haha yeah. It was actually one of the things we had to work on during the early years of the marriage.

Thank you and hoping for that and have an equally fantastic day.

Haha 😀

You will get the road trip when the time comes, don't force it. You tend to enjoy it better at the right time for you and the husband. Well, the second and the last part of your part of your post very insightful and I'm so happy with your simplicity.

Thanks for sharing.

You're right about that. Forcing things to happen won't be fun. A more spontaneous way is a lot better. Thank you.

I can be very impatient, Tito Ed and I have the tendency to want to get things done quickly when there's a way 😊

Aha! That's interesting too. Maybe because most are cramming to do things? Lol!

I myself love the sound of the birds in the morning and I do it every day and when I lose it, there are so many beautiful things to see and so many beautiful sights to see.

Aww, that's why you both compliment each other. That's what marriage is all about, two different people coming together to tolerate and accommodate their difference and respect boundaries.

Hehe, he might surprise you one day and do things faster.

Good morning and have a beautiful Monday.
