It's always tough at the beginning of the season and as I've mentioned before, I always suggest never to bet real money until a team has 6 or more league games under its belt and we can see patterns in form emerging but that's not going to help us today so let's have a look at what's been happening during the close season.

This is absolutely a game between two fallen giants. Its Bremen's 1st season in the second tier since 1981 and for Hannover 96, their third. This could be a good game between old rivals!

Werder Bremen start the campaign as one of the favourites for promotion after the appointment of manager, Markus Anfang and he has retained most of the squad from last season and I think will be too strong for a Hannover 96 side who after just missing out on promotion in their first season in the 2nd tier, have spent the last two season in the wrong half of the table and seem to have done very little in the way of squad strengthening during the close season. Before I call this one, I'd just add a word of caution in that Schalke 04, who also came down, lost their first game last night.
Expectation needs to be balanced with reality for newly relegated teams, even so...

The Small Print

In the first goal scorer competition, own goals do not count. In the correct score competition, it's the score after 90mins. Extra time and penalties do not count and the pot for each competition will roll over if there is no winner. If more than one person chooses the same first goal scorer or correct score, the prize is shared, and everyone gets a little upvote! It seems I also need to add, one entry per person. Don't forget the new rule that only people with a rep of 45 or above are eligible to enter unless they have been approved. The bonus will be added to any winnings ONLY if Leeds United win and/or Man U lose and all pay-outs will never exceed 50% of post pay-out. Other bonuses are paid out at my discretion.

No winner of the first scorer today, and yes, I'm sure of that! But the 1-0 score line was again correctly predicted by @trostnandia.pob ! What a roll my friend and the whole 5000 token prize has been sent. Well done. Good 'ere 'innit mate? ;-)
