OCD Sportstalk Incubation curation Update

What can I say as we had another great week growing another 29 new members leaving us standing on 1113 which is excellent and already a 10 percent growth since New Year. I think what is obvious is the community is becoming busier with more engagement happening and all of a sudden 250 active users becomes 500 and that is what we have to create. Over the last few weeks the interactions have doubled and we are above 1500 every day and the next step is 2000. The site ranking will climb on Alexa organically which is what we need.

Sportstalksocial.com had an Alexa rank of 574,388 90 days ago and already we have climbed up to 542,666 which is decent and know we can be under 500 000 within the next month if we keep growing the way we are. We have only just got going really and now we need to put the foot to the floor and grow this place. We can do this and it is not that difficult as who doesn't like sports.

Over the last week 25 posts have been put forward for extra curation which is a slight increase on the average weekly number (21). This is better than expected considering there were days I was hunting for posts to put through and know we can do better.

This week I have had users asking me what they can do to be curated and I thought I would just add some obvious pointers to help guide everyone looking for curation. I am like everyone else here and a member of sports so only here to help and not judging anyone but trying to point those who want to earn more in the right direction. As a tribe we are begging for posts to curate and that is the truth.

Firstly ask yourself if your post is worth more and have you gone the extra mile. What is frustrating on my part is I read posts that are a two minute read and users expect more when in reality is something that has taken 5 or 10 minutes to write worth $10 or $20 and the answer in my thoughts is no.

Last week we had 4 match reports on a football match and each one missed the mark firstly by the value they offered and the amount of personal input. This tells me possibly the author never watched the game and is reading another report rehashing old news from another site.

It takes me 5 minutes to skim through Sky Sports news to see similar articles reflected on sportstalk and to be honest I dodge those as they add nothing to the sportstalk tribe. Users even use the same picture which is brainless and tells you immediately how much effort has been made. There is so much out there and finding original content is easy so why reuse another story that you have no connection with?

In the last 6 months we have been fortunate enough to attract some aspiring journalists who have helped raise the bar. I don't expect us to compete against them as many of us just can't, but we can all try and do better.

I am hoping by the end of next month I will be able to submit 5 posts a day comfortably for curation and not have days of struggling hunting for one or two. I wish for the day when we have 10 per day and have to beg @ocd to reduce vote values so they can all get something.

I think its a good development for the community.

Just lime they sy Rome wasn't built in a day

I believe there's home for improvement on posts that are being made on here. It'll be a good idea if we a start bringing reality and originality to each of our posts to make it more fun to readers.

Improvement on posts will attract new users over time so I expect us to keep growing at a constant rate each month and the target is to double by the year end. having 2000 members on sportstalk will be a great number to have but then that could change if we suddenly have new arrivals.

10% growth since new year isn't bad at all. I'm sure we'll keep growing and sports token keeps soaring higher.

What I like is it is steady growth which says we are dong things the right way. At some point Hive will become a buzzing place full of new people so a growth explosion on sports will happen.

I love how SPORTS was so underrated as a community for whatever reason. I used to struggle to get curated or even get any engagement before this initiative. Individually, I want to focus on curating on the sportstalksocial website and put my stake to good use for something I am passionate about. 😊

That is pretty awesome that things are finally starting to grow a bit. Now that baseball season is starting to gear up and we are heading towards the end of the college basketball season, I will probably be posting more and more.
