Both pre-game bets yesterday somehow pushed while they easily could have won. The Europa League is back today with 2 matches from Belgian teams and one of them having an early kick-off. These are my views on how I believe they will go down...
Dynamo Kiev vs Club Brugge
There was somewhat of a corona-bomb this week for Club Brugge and their 2 most important creative offensive players Vanaken and Lang won't be available tonight along with their coach. This match will on top be played in harsh -15 temperatures. Fans will be allowed into the stadium but only 10k are expected. Kiev only just got back from a long winter break having played 1 match-winning 3-1 while Club Brugge is coming off a brutally busy schedule this last month. Brugge did see their weekend match postponed though. Kiev has god their striker Besedin back and their coach knows how to play for a result when needed as showcased in the match against AZ. One would say that the home team is the favorite with the important covid cases, long travel, cold weather conditions,... yet the odds after the news broke went the opposite way which is always super scary. So where does all this leave me when it comes down to betting? Pretty much clueless to be honest as there are just so many factors that it's hard to make a proper estimation. Right now the best indication I would say is looking at what the Asian betting markets are doing which indicates that Club Brugge won't have too many problems without Vanaken and Lang in a match that won't see all too many goals. I will just be waiting it out in-game to see where it all goes.
No Pre-Game Bets
FC Antwerp vs Rangers
So Antwerp is no longer the team they were when they impressed in the Europa League last year. Their coach who played offensively left and was replaced by a new one who now mostly plays defense and many players no longer are at their peak form while many important ones are missing (Mbokani, Haround, Butez, Lamkel Zé) which leaves them with Avenatti in the offense who flopped in Standard. Even though Standard is now in 2nd place in the league taking 10 on 12 in their last 4 matches, I can't really say I have been impressed. The season couldn't have gone better for the Rangers as they are on top with a 15-point lead over Celtic and they are unbeaten going 25W-4D-0L. More recently, things have become closer and 2 of the draws came in the last 6 matches. I would be surprised if this one did not turn out into a closed match given the big chance in playstyle from Antwerp and the fact that Rangers might be happy if the match stayed close. It is hard to say that the odds aren't fully adjusted to this though so I just stuck to a small initial bet on
1st Half Under 1 @ 1.826 which I won't hesitate to get out off if needed.
