Let's Cut to the Chase (Weekend Freewrite -- 12/14/2019)

Prompt First Sentence: The big what if. Would he have gone there anyway?

And miss the thrill of the chase? Not a chance, although he had to play his cards right or risk losing in his own game.

"I'll be there." were the vivid red words Jonathan had seen sprayed inside his apartment walls; he was damn sure Trixie meant their department outing.

Steven, however, lost all his cool and went ballistic. He wasn't going to risk the lives of his coworkers when there was a psychotic stalker on the loose. Little did they know, the real lion was already in the den. All Jonathan had to do was wait and see what Trixie had up her sleeve.

Prompt 2
Restless from exhaustion, everyone was wakeful on the second night.

It turned out Steven was outnumbered after all; nobody wanted to postpone this long needed break from work, and even if some of them understood that Jonathan was the new star around the radio station department, they couldn't quite wrap their heads around the fact that he'd earned himself a stalker.

Jonathan yawned as he looked around the huge camping area. This whole "cabin in the woods" vibe wasn't exactly his style, not unless he brought his ski-mask and chainsaw ensemble.

Just when he was getting bored of all the mundane stuff going on around him, he suddenly noticed a figure lurking near the edges of the woods.

Visibly relaxing his stance, he casually strolled across the field to greet his would-be perpetrator.

Prompt 3
she suddenly bared her teeth

Like that would have scared him off, but he halted in his steps just to give her space.

Her features shifted in a show of nonchalance as she straightened her stance and flipped her long dark hair.

"I thought you'd at least last a lot longer by yourself." Jonathan teased as his eyes grazed Trixie's lithe form.

She sauntered up to him and proceeded to wrap her arms around his neck as she pulled him down to her for a long, deep kiss.

Coming up for air, she gently leaned her forehead against his as she panted out, "Enough with the games Jonny James, I want you." She almost moaned out the last part of her sentence.

Jonathan held her tight against him. This woman who kept his urges at bay.

Maybe someday, she'd be the death of him.
