dCity Investments - When to buy a Law Firm

If you have been playing dcity for the last few month’s then you probably got used to 5-15% tax, so the current 70% tax is a very significant change. I had gotten used to being able to buy 2 Farm’s of the market with my main account @elbrava and have some change left after that and yesterday for the first time in many month’s I could only buy one. The income of all dcities has dropped a lot!

However, there is one card that can save you quite a bit of tax. This is the Law Firm. A very rare card, since there is only a 0,5% chance that you will get it as a random card. But since you can only effectively use 1 per dcity, they are still quite available on market. The cheapest one on the market currently is 1558 SIM or 6,349 Swap.Hive, which looks like a really good price to me.

So, how does the Law Firm help you with taxes? It gives you a 10% tax reduction. So, if you get one as a random card, you should absolutely keep it. The bigger your city grows, the more SIM income it will save for you.

So, at what size of your dcity should you prioritize getting a Law Firm? Well, first of all it does produce 10 SIM income before taxes with only 10 Workers, so this makes it a pretty good Production card already. It is quite similar to a Restaurant, but with a bit less popularity.

That means that as soon as you pay about 100 SIM in taxes, which causes the Law Firm to save you 10 SIM in tax money, the decision to buy a Law Firm becomes a no-brainer. By the time your dcity has to pay more than 300 SIM in taxes, the Law Firm has become your best income earner.

So let’s calculate at what income level you should get a Law Firm when taxes stay around 70%. When 100 SIM is 70% tax, then the total income before tax is 143 SIM. The income after taxes is then 43 SIM.

But most of all make this calculation: My dcity for @invest4free earns 891 SIM Base income. 70% tax from that is 624 SIM. 10% of this tax is 62 SIM. So my Law firm is now earning the standard 10 SIM income + 62 SIM tax reduction. So I am really glad I already had a Law Firm in my dcity.

So, make that calculation for your dcity and figure out if you need that Law Firm.
