Self Accountability

Hi Friends!

My challenge in blogging is daily content. More so now that my content is hitting the Blockchain now with my peakd content moving into the CTPTalk platform then being carried on Hive. A monetized blog, what a concept!

So, now for Self Accountability. As I was posting my Telegram and WowApp groups I found myself using the word accountability over and over again. We get a lot of new people in these groups, so I hear things like...

"Ok, I'll try..."

"I'm afraid to talk to people..."

"I don't like to see myself on video..."

Now, we must make everyone understand that if you come to an accountability group, you will be held accountable. I am not your boss, I do not pretend to be. I am a mentor, a coach, a friend, a guide. What I will do however is tell you what you don't want to hear. I am not a yes man. I will not work to make you feel good in spite of giving good advice. I will tell you the truth. I will be nice about it, and positively constructive.

Here are my answers to the 3 examples:

"Ok, I'll try..." Yoda says don't try, do. Say you'll do it, and if you fail somehow it won't be for a lack of trying. The first step in accountability is putting your goal out to yourself and your peers. Follow up then is key, but that is for another blog on another day.

"I'm afraid to talk to people..." You must then be afraid of success and afraid of rejection perhaps? Perhaps you are afraid to step out of your comfort zone. So I give you the NIKE advice, just do it!!!!

"I don't like to see myself on video..." You will always be your hardest critic. Ask and get feedback and then continue to practice and perfect. A bad video is better than no video.

In conclusion, it is not me or any mentor that makes this all happen. It is YOU. The power is YOU and it starts with holding yourself accountable in the accountability groups. So make your declarations and go out and do it! :)

Being accountable for our own actions is super empowering. I have a coach with whom I have been working for a few years now. She is a great lady who gently but firmly nudges me out of my comfort zone on a regular basis. Love her!

I use LinkedIn as one of my marketing platforms. Just this week a couple of connections requested to speak with me on the phone. I started going on about how I hate having the phone conversations because I feel at a disadvantage. My mentor, friend and coach, Debbie and I had a conversation after I chose to get back with the contacts and have a conversation anyway. One of the issues I have is a difficulty with detaching from outcomes which goes right along with my fear of rejection. She and I have an agreement. If I could get them to view an overview of the program we are in she would talk to them on zoom call.
So for me just getting them to view the video is a win. Okay! Did that! They both agreed to view the video. Where it goes from there is anybody's guess. But I learned that I can deal with a conversation on the phone and they will get better.
I actually recorded the calls and sent her the recordings to critique.

Accountability is everything in business as in life ... and it starts with being accountable to oneself. GREAT article, Rob!

Been there done that!
To be honest is still sometimes difficult to talk to people and be on camera!
But since I started doing videos and feel the support of this fantastic community, I'm much better than before, and I'm thankful for that!
My advise is, take your time but don't take too long..take a deep breath and jump! It only gets better if you continue to practice!
Great post and thank you for your mentorship!

The internet marketing industry has the highest level of self accountability.
Sadly, many folks are not interested in it
or not willing to be honest with themselves.
Looking in the mirror, and having an honest,
real conversation with one's self can drastically change a life & a business.
Not getting the result you wish for, perhaps the activities one is doing or not doing is the answer
Nobody speaks my language better than me.
Probably true for many folks that actually do look at one's self.

Being accountable is so important. It goes hand in hand with self evaluation. We have to be able to look at ourselves lovingly and critically. Then we can grow,.

If you are not accountable to yourself, who in the world are you accountable to?
