The Cable Guy

Looking forward to Ultra HD gaming on your new PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X? It's amazing how far we've come in terms of home entertainment technology in the last 20 or so years.

The new wires are capable of transmitting 48Gbps of data. An impressive 2.5x increase over the previous HDMI standard, HDMI 2.0. A picture speaks a thousand words so here's a good visual representation of how much more data HDMI 2.1 cables carry versus HDMI 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 cables.

HDMI vs DisplayPort

DisplayPort was better than HDMI 2.0 because it was able to carry more data. But with HDMI 2.1, HDMI has leapfrogged DisplayPort and will probably be the de-facto standard for gaming, at least console gaming.

It's not just about the cables, though

Many folks have the misconception that simply buying better cables will allow them to take achieve ultra high-resolution but in truth, the cables are simply what pulls the system together. You will still need a top-notch GPU and TV in order to get ultra high resolutions like 4K120 or 8K60.

So what does this have to do with CTP?

It's where I got my start in this affiliate marketing journey. A lot of folks tell you to promote high-ticket items but I started out hawking cables. Not the most glamorous thing but you know what? Everybody needs them!

So, my takeaway is that rather than focusing on the price of the product, you should look at the price multiplied by the expected number of sales multiplied by the commission rate. That is the real criteria that matters.

Wanted to test out back link trigger. By default links appear to be no follow and become do-follow links if they cross a dollar threshold. Interesting.
