LBRY on CTP? Video Code: Testing, Testing...
Is This Thing On?
Seriously, that's my question. Or, more specifically, does the embed html from a video on #LBRY work with the code frame here on #CTP? I think it will work, but it certainly wouldn't be the first technical snag I've run into.
Hey CTP: Video is Decentralized Now.
It's kind of funny, right? Here we are on a blockchain-based social blogging platform, and the only WYSIWYG video embed options are the centralized corporate ones.
That's fucked up, yo!
I'll begrudgingly digress for the moment, but ONLY IF the following test returns the flying colours I expect. I need to know that we can embed a video using code when it's provided.
Here's my test code:
<iframe id="lbry-iframe" width="560" height="315" src="https://lbry.tv/$/embed/Covid-19-(SARS-COV2)-Does-NOT-Exist!-Here-Is-The-Evidence--/a6762d038b19416972175f55557a2897eec14455?r=GFHEZE7nn41j5hukgBHpiFbNXpSZqwMB" allowfullscreen></iframe>
And here's the result:
<iframe id="lbry-iframe" width="560" height="315" src="https://lbry.tv/$/embed/Covid-19-(SARS-COV2)-Does-NOT-Exist!-Here-Is-The-Evidence--/a6762d038b19416972175f55557a2897eec14455?r=GFHEZE7nn41j5hukgBHpiFbNXpSZqwMB" allowfullscreen></iframe>
This is going to sound strange... but I'm posting this without seeing a preview, which doesn't work for me (at least on my Chromebook), so I have no specific reaction to the above test and I won't be editing it afterward. The whole point of this post is to perform the test, so it only makes sense to leave the real result exposed.
Side note: If it just looks normal and the #video code worked, then all this superfluous commentary makes me sound like a fucking crack-pot... and now that I've said that, it's going to be weird regardless. I've painted myself into a padded corner here.
I digress again! I digress always.
Besides, the only reason I did this test was because I saw that @jongolson tried to use the normal video embed tab for a LBRY video and it failed. Now it's just an awkward link in parentheses... it's fine, but obviously not ideal.
And even if the code frame does work and there is a video up above, it's still not ideal! Not everyone knows how to do that at the best of times, and I'm not sure if other platforms create the embed text like LBRY does. I'll double check these things now that I'm thinking about it though.
Let me know in the comments if I'm missing some gigantic detail, or if my insanity entertains... or you know, just to say HOWDY (but please don't say howdy).
Okie dokie... so that didn't work at all. Any ideas? Or did I do something wrong? That's a bit disappointing that only YouTube and Vimeo videos can be embedded.
It will be fucking huge once the @threespeak team implements a decentralized storage system and support for IPFS. The project is around the corner - might get you interested.
I'm definitely down for that... but it doesn't solve this issue. Or does it? Do you know how to embed a video from 3Speak here on CTP?
They haven't released the whitepaper yet so I don't know all the technicalities.

Check out the last post from @hivebuzz:
If you are trying to show a video through the CTP Talk frontend, the frontend as it is sucks but the Team behind it is fixing a new one and 3speak videos and prolly Lbry will be soon showing up properly :)
I look forward to that! I've noticed that it's no different on #LeoFinance... the only platform I know of where the code frame works is Uptrennd (of all places).
