These phrases definitely did not catch my attention when it came to watching the movie, no matter how flashy they were on the movie poster. But when watching, he is not really a man or a machine, it is much more than that.

Set in the near-future, technology controls nearly all aspects of life. But when the world of Grey, a self-labeled technophobe, is turned upside down, his only hope for revenge is an experimental computer chip implant.

A brutal mugging leaves Grey Trace paralyzed in the hospital and his beloved wife dead. A billionaire inventor soon offers Trace a cure -- an artificial intelligence implant called STEM that will enhance his body. Now able to walk, Grey finds that he also has superhuman strength and agility -- skills he uses to seek revenge against the thugs who destroyed his life.

The 3 points I will address in this post are:

• Quotes you will remember when you watch

I will not tell the story of the film, for that I have already left the synopsis above, in case you are interested to watch, let's go to the points that will be covered.

Predictability

Because this is a movie set in the technological future, you can expect any Plot Twist from where you least expect it. After all, the poetic license will be all along with the director at the time of justifying, after all we do not know how the technology will be in the future to affirm whether that would be possible or not.

The fight at the bar is only interesting to know how it will unfold, because we know which scene the director will put after it, as it is a hint of humor that you already expect, but you still laugh.

But right after continuing this scene, the way villains kill a supporting character brought a bad Plot Twist, in fact you have the poetic license to invent whatever you want, but the way the director presented it was that the villain was much more powerful than than our anti-hero, which when watching the movie you see that is not true.

Gray and Stem's Dialogue

Even though it was an action movie, the director included several funny scenes for the film, which the performance of the actors who play Gray and Stem helped a lot. A robot being sarcastic, without knowing what sarcasm is, made me laugh several times. He was serious, but if he were a human you would notice that he was playing with Gray's face.

However, it seemed to me that these characters worked very well and forgot the rest, they are a little empty, with shallow lines, where you expect something from them and it never happens. Now with Gray and Stem you know that something will always happen in the dialogue between them that you will laugh or think "now something very crazy will happen".

Best Quotes

The kitchen fight scene is where you start to understand Stem, and it gives you lots of laughs. When it comes to the knife, you really don't know what's going to happen, but it's still a scene of action and humor, with an ending that you will either love or find shocking.

One last scene of the film, where Gray shows or tries to show Stem that he is not in control, after all Stem is just a machine and the human is Gray. Then a Plot Twist arrives, which unfortunately did not hit me, because I was imagining that the next scene, the final scene, would be what the director proposed, but it is still a Plot Twist, because I believe that many people did not expect it. And it was well done and finished. Even in my opinion giving a loophole for a second film, which I really believe will never happen, but the fact that the script leaves it open already satisfies me.

Final Considerations

It is quietly a 14+ movie that you can watch with the family. There is nothing that no other film has ever shown in terms of violence or the like.

Just like Adam Sandler's films are movies to watch with your family at 4pm. Upgrade is a movie that you can easily watch even if you have teenagers around when you want to make a popcorn and watch something at 9pm.

A movie for you to watch when you want to kill some time.

Essas frases definitivamente não me chamaram atenção na hora de ver o filme, por mais que estivessem ali chamativas no poster do filme. Porém ao assistir, realmente ele não é homem nem maquina, é muito mais do que isso.

Um inventor bilionário logo oferece a Trace uma cura - um implante de inteligência artificial chamado STEM que irá aprimorar seu corpo. Agora capaz de andar, Gray descobre que também tem força e agilidade sobre-humanas - habilidades que usa para se vingar dos bandidos que destruíram sua vida.

Previsibilidade

Por se tratar de um filme que se passa em um futuro tecnológico, pode esperar qualquer Plot Twist de onde você menos esperar. Afinal a licença poética estará todo ao lado do diretor na hora de justificar, afinal não sabemos como estará a tecnologia no futuro para afirmar se aquilo seria possível ou não.

A luta no bar só é interessante para saber como ela irá desenrolar, pois sabemos qual cena o diretor irá colocar após ela, pois é uma pitada de humor que você já espera, mas mesmo assim você da risada.

Porém logo após continuando essa cena, o jeito que os vilões matam um coadjuvante trouxe um Plot Twist ruim, de fato você tem a licença poética para inventar o que quiser, porém a maneira que o diretor apresentou passou que o vilão era muito mais poderoso do que o nosso anti-herói, o que ao assistir o filme você vê que não é verdade.

Dialogo de Gray e Stem

Mesmo sendo um filme de ação, o diretor incluiu várias cenas engraçadas para o filme, o que a atuação dos atores que fazem Gray e Stem ajudou muito. Um robô sendo sarcastico, sem saber o que é sarcasmo me fez rir varias vezes. Ele estava falando sério, porém se fosse um humano você notaria que ele estava brincando com a cara de Gray.

Porém me pareceu muito que trabalharem muito bem esses personagens e esqueceram dos restantes, são um pouco vazios, com falas rasas, onde você espera algo deles e nunca acontece. Já com Gray e Stem você sabe que sempre irá acontecer algo no diálogo entre eles que você irá dar risadas ou então pensar "agora vai acontecer alguma coisa muito louca".

Melhores Citações

A cena na briga da cozinha é onde você começa a entender o Stem, e ela proporciona várias risadas. Na hora da faca, você realmente não sabe o que vai acontecer, porém continua sendo uma cena de ação e humor, com um final que você ou irá adorar ou irá achar chocante.

Umas últimas cenas do filme, onde Gray mostra ou tenta mostrar para Stem que ele não está no controle, afinal Stem é apenas uma máquina e o humano é o Gray. Então chega um Plot Twist, que infelizmente não me atingiu, pois eu estava imaginando que a próxima cena, a cena final, seria aquilo que o diretor propôs, porém não deixa de ser um Plot Twist, pois acredito que muita gente não esperava. E foi bem feito e finalizado. Inclusive na minha opinião dando uma brecha para um segundo filme, que creio muito que nunca vá acontecer, mas o fato de o roteiro deixar aberto já me satisfaz.

Considerações Finais

É tranquilamente um filme 14+ que você pode assistir com a família. Não há nada que nenhum outro filme já não tenha apresentado em questão de violência ou coisa do tipo.

Assim como os filmes do Adam Sandler são filmes para se ver tranquilamente com a família as 4 da tarde. Upgrade é um filme que você pode ver tranquilamente mesmo se tiver adolescentes por perto quando você quiser fazer uma pipoca e assistir algo as 9 da noite.

Um filme para você assistir quando quiser matar um tempo.
