Oscar de la Hoya, 48, says he plans boxing comeback in July

Oscar de la Hoya, former boxing champion has announced a comeback to the ring sometime in July to his favourite sport after retiring about 13 years ago.

The American professional boxer won about 11 titles in 6 weight classes during his 16 year boxing career is touted as one of the top pound-for-pound fighters of all time.

The 48 year old retired after having been defeated by Manny Pacquiao in the match that happened to be his final fight.

De La Hoya who made the announcement of his return on a stage where an event took place to promote Jake Paul's fight with Ben Askren back in April, the boxer said he'll be making a comeback on July 3.

His opponent has not yet been disclosed but it is tipped to be against another American boxing great with many speculating Floyd Mayweather
