HELP - Is there such a thing as Too Much Inspiration?

IO L.png

Just to set expectations I am not planning on making this a very philosophical piece about writers and inspiration.

It´s gonna be about me!
And how I struggle wit a reversed writer's block, I have an idea Tsunami.

I was going through my old posts and I saw I have not done a Personal Story With A soundtrack for quite some time.

And then I wondered WhyWHy?

The answer was staring me right in the face because when I scrolled up I saw that I have been pretty active writing approx 1 post each day. And then I am talking about mediocre-quality posts. No 300 words shitposts about me writing every day on Hive.

This is my To Do List, after I shelved some ideas:

To Write List

  1. An Outlaw Country Post
  2. Next Personal Story With A Soundtrack
  3. Post two of My Book of Revelations Soundtrack series
  4. A post about being a Contrarian
  5. Next Three Tune Tuesday Riddle
  6. Chapters 55 & 56 of Beyond A Doubt
  7. My Lazy Sunday Spread The Vibes Post
  8. Part 3 of my Best Finacial Advice Ever series (WIP)
  9. Part 4 of my Best Finacial Advice Ever series (WIP)
  10. This weeks Midnight Gems Sessions (WIP)
  11. Post about how CAKE DFI keeps surprising me (WIP)
  12. Digging Up Your Family History Online (WIP)
  13. This Months Adventures in Gods Unchained (WIP)

That´s 14 serious posts pending on my availability. Because even though I might smell like a writer, I do have a daytime job. And a life although writing is a big part of life.

But sometimes I feel just a little bit of pressure, and that pressure is imaginary. It´s me coming up with ideas and not knowing where to find the time to create the actual post I have in mind.

Of course, it´s only me...well it was only me knowing what was in the pipeline. Nobody would give a flying burrito if one of those posts never saw the light of day.

hqdefault (3).jpg

But I feel like I owe it to my creative idea to write it.

Bottom Line

The Bottom Line is that I know I can write less, but once the idea has sprouted in my brain tissue it keeps growing and I don´t want it to burst my skull.

0a4.jpg

Hence it needs to end up on virtual paper.

The reason I am just writing this piece is because I am curious how this works for you.

Do you lack ideas?
Or like me have an inspiration overload?
How do you deal with it?
Do you write a draft, or just note down the idea?

And in case you have a lack of ideas, do you ask Chat GPT for help, or let yourself be inspired by something?

Thank goodness you made it till the end Pees, Love and I am out of here!

I am usually like you with many possible ideas of things I would like to write. I get inspiration from everywhere and sometimes make a note to come back to it. I don't use chat gpt for any hive related stuff.

I tend to draft an idea and then save it as a draft, but even that sometimes takes quite some time. But I now have so many to come back to !LOLZ

I see often stuff I think is GPT inspired but well it´s not for me to call that out but......

yeah I am guessing there is quite a bit of GPT stuff on Hive, some more obvious than others.

I tend to draft ideas and seek GPT assistance in arranging them for specific audience.

I find GPT useful when I run out of inspiration.

Thanks I think GPT is useful if i need more info on a topic or a more complete view, but I so far have too much inspiration but it can help with finding some background info faster than you can googl

Do you lack ideas?

I don't lack ideas. I do lack time often.

Or like me have an inspiration overload?

Well, it depends, sometimes it happens. I had a list of drafts and posts to write, but then some of them stayed there in the draft for months.

How do you deal with it?

Cut back myself.

Do you write a draft, or just note down the idea?

Note down the idea. Usually links or photos in the drafts.

And in case you have a lack of ideas, do you ask Chat GPT for help, or let yourself be inspired by something?

No chat GPT. In these cases I leave time myself and when the inspiration comes try to make space/time to write the idea down.

P.S. Didn't you forget the trastero thing to put on this list? 😁

the trastero post
That one is on the shelf but on the lowest shelf so it is easy to reach unlike the trastero.

Cut back myself

That is where I struggle I mean if I really lack time I can do it, but often I am like hmm lets do that after work and then at night when I watch a series I again edit that draft while should/could be relaxing only.

I guess I need to work on the cutting back myself part..... and the trastero story

Best of luck with that! I get that way sometimes too. I have like 15 different ideas, but none of them are really well formed, so I start writing one of them and I realize I have maybe two cohesive sentences about the topic and the rest is just incoherent babbling. That happens a lot!

incoherent babbling

That is one of my skills as well, but I did learn to edit that out a little

Yeah, I guess that is the benefit of it not being live or anything like that.

Oh man, this happens a lot to me to that I'm a bit disconnected by too many ideas and try to make it work. Spent more time than usually on the post, and then stop while already having 1000 or more words because it just doesn't flow. I deleted so many content because of that over the years, lol.

What I usually do when this happens is go back to basic, find a picture, write something not too long without expecting too much of myself and slowly things come back.

Do you lack ideas?

Since I joined Hive (St..it back then) actually, never..

Or like me have an inspiration overload?

Most of the times, sometimes I have so much too process and have to take a step back for a bit.

How do you deal with it?
Do you write a draft, or just note down the idea?

I try to put images into folders as soon as I know this will be for content. Then I usually also write down the topic somewhere, sometimes I make a draft in drafts on peakd. And I have tons of lists on paper or documents to go through so I forget things and then months later I find back ideas and get another inspirational boost lol.

Currently most inspiration is used for other things I'm setting up but I'm trying to get one post out on Hive every day, without feeling bad if I miss one here and there because life took all my energy, lol. I'm also limiting my office time since the back pains appeared. They are very much under control but I'd like to keep it that way :)

I only used AI for project outline ideas and help me get started on rolling out some things when I didn't know how to start or what to look for to get me to the next step. It's been super helpful for those things as well as learning how to prompt better. I feel everyone will need to be able to use it at some point so I'm trying to practice that a bit every week but not make it a priority over other things I need to do.

I am indeed drafting my ass off just to document the rough idea. GPT is indeed nice to organize some stuff or make sure you capture everything and not overlook something you might not be aware about, basically it´s my improved wiki/google data gathering tool.

But I want to cut down a bit every now and then, still I have this urge to post everyday...... maybe I am addicted to the(lack of) likes I get !LOLZ

This! But better in a lot of cases, so I've learned.

I know the feeling lol. Whenever I see weeks of low rewards, I tend to go towards taking a break but then I remember even the few bucks could be worth a lot more in the future, plus it all adds to the savings in HBD as well.

Just trying to be easy on myself when I miss a day (such as yesterday lol). I like having some content prepped but in the past weeks, I have not managed to get it done anymore. Maybe next week..

I am trying to prep ahead this week as next week I need Family time, but I wonder if I can post a week and prep a week
