It´s a tale that came back to me when I meditated on one of my past lives. A life I told you about in my unbelievable true story.
As promised in that story I will now share this story with you.
Chapter 128
“It seems like a fair analysis to me, Sion. The forces in that council are darker than night. With your father gone, they'll have no qualms about seizing power. And all will be in vain,” as I pause and try to get control of the frog in my throat Numico turns around.
“Sion, you will take back power sooner than you think, But you will not see the seventeenth summer if you stay in this palace. It is not only my heart that asks you to come with me, it is also my head that knows what your role is in this realm."
"Leave this palace, we will protect you until you are at a safe distance, far from the clutches of the council and invisible to their bloodhounds. Then you can decide yourself whether you will return in the future,” the young man says confidently.
“Numico, I'll come along, on the condition that you never leave my side. Wherever fate takes us. If we have to live in hiding in poverty, I don't care if you stand by me."
"Despite the pain of the past few days, part of me is happy and relieved. My father would never have allowed me to stay by your side, but I don't know anyone whose appearance moves me so much in all the cells of my being. No one whose words sound so warm and wise.”
Numico lowers his eyes, and when he raises them, I see a tear welling up. “I will love nothing more than to stand by your side wherever the future takes us.”
This is kind of unexpected at least for me, maybe my head is still with Kyra because Dadrie is already busy with an escape plan when Sion tells us about a corridor that extends beyond the city walls.
Besides her father and perhaps her mother, probably no one knows of its existence. She discovered it as a little girl, but it wasn't until a few years ago that she had the courage to find out where this long corridor was leading.
We have to find someone who can deliver a horse to the exit of the tunnel or have it delivered.
Nightingale is suggested, but it would be too noticeable for a soldier to be away for so long without orders; that would cost him his head after Sion's disappearance.
"The person has to get the horse from another village. For it might be noticed that the day before the princess's disappearance, someone disappears with two horses and returns on a single horse," Dadrie adds.
"The staff will be on leave after the funeral, Sion says. Among them is someone I trust with my life, who I know would lovingly give hers for mine if necessary."
Ten eyes look questioningly at Sion; "my nurse, the woman who took me in her hands before my mother did."
“Would she be willing...,” Dadrie can't finish his sentence, Sion's big eyes say enough.
“Yes Dadrie, Hitja would give her life with love if it would save mine. But if we do it right, no one will know about it. When the ceremony is over we will leave. We will hide in the woods."
"After dinner, I will go to her sleeping quarters. The entrance to the tunnel is not far from the hall where the dinner takes place. Since there are no staff, it should not be difficult to reach them without being seen."
"Sion's nurse can prepare herself when darkness falls. She will need to provide a horse and provisions from a village a few hours away from the palace."
"Before the moon reaches its highest point we will meet near the exit of the tunnel. Hitja will enter the tunnel via the exit with Numico to let Sion know that the moment has come. After which your earliest caregiver, will stay behind in the tunnel, waiting for the day to start again."
"She will return to the city later that morning, this way no suspicion can rest on her."
"We will also not immediately be among the suspects since we have already left for quite some time. And would not be able to break you out of the palace when we are not even within the palace."
Kreytu knows a place where Sion can hide, it´s near his lands and no one ever travels through that area. He himself will simply return with Cabilah and resume his daily life.
We will have returned to the mountains, so to speak. In the meantime, we will inform Nightingale about the true state of affairs. He can then keep us informed of what is going on in the palace.
It is well put together, no one can be identified as an accomplice in the escape.
In addition, it is not a crime to leave your home and not return.
Only in the event of kidnapping would there be legal proceedings. No one could be considered demonstrably involved.
However, we are certain that the council would like to know where the heir to the throne is. As long as she has not signed the agreement, their power is not guaranteed.
That makes it likely that they will do everything they can to get Sion back and put pressure on her to transfer power. Or not, perhaps the disappearance also suits them very well.
