UMBRELLA a multi-award-winning Animated short film (Review)

‘Have you downloaded the movies we will be watching this night?’
I asked my sister. She answered sarcastically;
‘Yes, I even have an animation video just for you.’

‘Ehn! I know it is wack. For it to be just for me.’

I turned on the laptop this morning and rummaged through the movies to see the one that I would love to watch as I had breakfast. (Each time I eat a movie on tow is my best bet for a sweet me time)
I have watched all 46 of them but not the ‘worst animation I have ever seen’ says my sister.

’How bad can it be? Let's while away time.’ thinking to myself as I moved the cursor quite swiftly to the movie title “Umbrella”.*

Spoiler alert🚨 🚨🚨

It started with a slarky sad red-nosed little boy with a yellow shawl wrapped around his neck peeking through the window as it rained.

A car was parked before his house and a young lady stepped out opening up her yellow umbrella then a glimmer of light came up in his eyes with a broad smile he ran down the stairs and hid.

The lady came with a box of toys and an angry little girl following suit who wasn't keen on the idea of losing her old toys to a bunch of strangers. But immediately the box of toys was opened to the children who gathered around in anticipation, she smiled. The room brightened up with the happiest kids ever playing and laughing with her toys.

She turned slightly and saw that the umbrella her mum placed on the umbrella hanger was missing. In its vacancy saw a trail of water drippings on the stairs leading to the attic where she saw a little boy tucking in her mum's yellow umbrella into a cabinet of books.

She was livid and the little boy startled at someone watching closed the cabinet shot then stood before the doors.

He was accused and the matron was disappointed, why take from people and more disheartening a people so kind to us...

The unravelling happening afterwards will have you in tears I promise.

A Review

A less than 8-minute nonverbal film that is so touching, thought-provoking, inspiring and message-bound that will throw you off guard in your thought of a typical animation.
It is indeed an Oscar performance though nominated and worth every award labeled it.
Rate: 10/10
