🗞 IOTA Being Shut Off Is the Latest Chapter in an Absurdist History

The IOTA coordinator node responsible for confirming all transactions has been offline for more than 12 days, yet the token remains listed as one of the top 30 cryptocurrencies by market cap, according to OnChainFX. Its price even went up.

There are few cryptocurrencies as notorious as IOTA, which skyrocketed from $0.34 a token in November 2017 to $5.36 by the top of the token boom in December 2017. Eric Wall, CIO of the Nordic cryptocurrency investment firm Arcane Assets, described the project as “the worst coin to have gotten as high as it did.”

“The sort of meta-question the industry is asking itself is whether IOTA can successfully keep their partnerships and convert themselves into somewhat of a success by replacing the technology pieces as they go, without having had any viable plan whatsoever when they began,” Wall said. “They're pushing the boundaries of the fake-it-till-you-make-it approach to the extreme.”

Back at the peak in 2017, I was a green crypto reporter approached by the press team for former beauty queen and reality TV contestant Jessica VerSteeg, who wanted to open a cannabis business in California. We’d seen press releases about an “official partnership” between the Germany-based IOTA Foundation and Microsoft, which the incumbent tech company later denied, as well as various universities. VerSteeg wanted to use the IOTA protocol, named for its proposed functionality with internet-of-things (IoT) devices, in a coworking space for cannabis startups.

🗞 MoneyGram Expands Ripple Partnership with $11.3 Million

According to filings through the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), money transmission network MoneyGram has gained over $11 million from the blockchain-based payments firm Ripple Labs.

In a press release by MoneyGram, the company stated it had received funds from Ripple divided over two quarters: in the fourth quarter, $8.9 million, and $2.4 million in the third, totaling $11.3 million. Its revenue for Q4 was reported to be $323.7 million.

"MoneyGram continued to expand its strategic partnership with Ripple as the first money transfer company to scale the use of blockchain capabilities."

🗞 Anthony Pompliano Speaks to CNN about Warren Buffett and Bitcoin

Ever since Warren Buffett gave an interview in which he stated “I don’t own any cryptocurrency” and rebuffed the idea that there was any value in Bitcoin, responses from the crypto community and media outlets have been spreading like wildfire.

Tron (TRX) Founder Justin Sun immediately came forward and claimed that the blockchain could prove Buffett was indeed the owner of a number of Bitcoin. However, the issue many had wasn’t his denial of ownership, but rather his seemingly outdated views on technology.

Anthony "Pomp" Pompliano, co-founder and partner at Morgan Creek Digital, spoke to CNN’s Julia Chatterley at the New York Stock Exchange on Tuesday. He had a lot to say about the Buffett interview.

🗞Bank of Canada Won’t Issue Its Own Crypto Unless Libra Succeeds: Deputy Governor

The Bank of Canada has no plans to issue its own digital currency – at least, not at the moment.

The central bank does not see a real need to issue its own cryptocurrency unless a competitor to cash takes off, said Deputy Governor Timothy Lane. His speech, titled "Money and Payments in the Digital Age," addressed how the central bank is approaching the idea of central bank digital currencies; in his view, cash works.

To be sure, Bank of Canada was one of the most active students of the CBDC concept, and it ran a pilot project on R3's distributed ledger tech solution Corda. Last May, the project was live-tested in a cross-border settlement trial with the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

Yesterday we were trying to break the support line at 0.21$, it is now well confirmed and validated. We are now pausing on a small support at 0.19$ but I'm not sure that one will be enough to hold us. We could quickly reach the real support at 0.155$. Yes it is very low but drop like that can accelerate in just some days so let's hope we will be stopped before reaching that level.
