🗞 Hive Blockchain is launching this Friday

While this all started some people including me had a thought that anything that emerges or forks out of the parent have never been able to surpass the parent. If Hive is going to fork out of Steem the same can happen. I also had this confusion in my mind. Then later when I thought that it is the whole community moving to a new and better place because the old one is currently being occupied by new people, I guess this project should be of good success.

I also personally trust the closed group and 30 people and the developers out there. They are hard workers who have already proved their skills and capabilities in many community projects.
I trust that they will make this place a better one. One good thing that I'm most excited about is the fact that we need not be dependent on Steemit to support in any aspect and push the code or make changes to the UI.

It is so horrible that we did not see any visually appealing development happening in the last 4 years. I believe this new chain will bring more opportunities and will have better ways to handle plagiarism, spamming and try to keep the ecosystem clean. There are still lots of questions and grey areas here and there. There are few things that I would like to see in the future.

  • More exchange listing for HIVE
  • Gradually more value for the Hive token.
    POS and DPOS handled in a better way than it being a criteria to take control here.
  • Definitely a better condenser than the shit old steemit condenser.

🗞 Steem Community Plans Hostile Hard Fork to Flee Justin Sun’s Steemit

The blockchain for bloggers, Steem, is moving to Hive.io, CoinDesk has learned. The hostile hard fork is scheduled for Friday.

"My own opinion, Justin Sun thought this was a voting war," Blocktrades founder Dan Notestein told CoinDesk. Blocktrades is a leading validator on the Steem blockchain and Notestein is among the developers coordinating the hard fork's software.

Sun's Tron Foundation acquired Steemit, Steem’s leading social media dapp, on Feb. 14. The acquisition kicked off a protracted fight between Sun and the Steem community over which side leads the chain. At issue is a pile of Steemit Inc.-controlled steem tokens known as the “ninja-mined stake” that Sun could have used to determine the blockchain’s fate.

For this initial hard fork, one key thing will change: The tokens from the original development fund controlled by Steemit will not be carried over to the new chain. Everyone else's will be ported over.

🗞 Bitcoin Price, Stocks, Rally on Trump COVID-19 $1 Trillion Stimulus Reveal

Bitcoin’s (BTC) recovery from last week's catastrophic drop to $3,700 continued on Tuesday as the digital asset briefly topped $5,500 before pulling back below $5,400. The improvement in the crypto market’s price action appears to have been partially driven by a boost from today’s White House press conference which involved U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin confirming reports that the Trump Administration would support a $1 trillion Coronavirus response package.

The stimulus aims to provide a swift intervention to small businesses, various industries, and citizens who have all been hit in the pocket book by the spread of COVID-19.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin continues to trade in the $5,050 to $5,400 range and the price is encountering resistance at $5,500. The 1 and 4-hour timeframe shows a progression of higher lows and a positive development is Bitcoin appears to be on the verge of flipping the $5,400 level to support.

🗞 Interest in BTC Futures Drops Amid Discussions of Financial Market Closure

Despite record-high volatility in bitcoin (BTC), derivatives traders appear to be pulling money out of the market, while a “rush to cash” becomes the overarching theme for the financial markets. The moves in bitcoin follow major volatility in the traditional financial markets, where some of the largest players are fighting the idea of temporary market closure.

Judging from the aggregated open interest (OI) across all major futures exchanges, it seems that the crypto market crash, combined with the ongoing panic in traditional financial markets, are keeping traders away from the bitcoin derivatives market.

🗞 Bakkt Raises USD 300M from Microsoft's M12 and PayU Among Others

Bakkt, a physically-settled Bitcoin futures trading platform, has completed a multi-million-dollar fundraising round, bringing the total raised capital to USD 482.5 million.

Bakkt has closed a Series B fundraising round, raising USD 300 million, with participation from investors, including some major names, such as Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), Microsoft’s M12, PayU, Boston Consulting Group, Goldfinch Partners, CMT Digital, and Pantera Capital, according to a blog post by Mike Blandina, the CEO of this the U.S.-based, ICE-backed platform.

"With the completion of our Series B financing and the recent acquisition of [loyalty services provider] Bridge2 Solutions," writes Blandina, "Bakkt is now a team of 350 employees and powers the loyalty redemption programs for 7 of the top 10 financial institutions and over 4,500 loyalty and incentive programs including two of the largest U.S. airlines."

As reported, ICE agreed to acquire Bridge2 Solutions, and the strategic combination will accelerate the development of the Bakkt consumer application, which will provide digital asset aggregation, conversion, and payments through a single platform for consumers around the world, the company had said.
