Overdependence and Addiction to Screens!

How are you doing? We live in a digital world so it's almost impossible for us to keep ourselves away from the electronic gadgets. Mostly it's a part of both professional and personal lives. Digital Screens are there for our professional work and then digital means are the topmost means of entertainment and leisure. It's a quite trap of digitalization we all are going into. As they say excess of everything is bad, the same is for the time we put into excessive electronic means.

We need to understand the importance of our digital wellbeing. Being too much dependent on digital means by all means is not necessary and not justified as well. For a case, digital media itself is not only the source of entertainment. It's good to dive into outdoors and find other ways of entertainment. How about a long walk, rejuvenating with nature and clarify your thoughts. But instead we choose to stick into a corner of our house and start tapping into our phones or laptops.

Everything electronic gadget is coming with smart features, just take smart TV. Haven't Smartphones were enough we are having smart TVs as well. Now people tend to consume more digital content on smart TV as well. Digital content such as YouTube or OTT platforms is quite addictive and it's slowly turns into a habit hard to devoid of. The abundance of digital content is giving users endless possibilities and excuses to make themselves available on screen for majority of their everyday hours. Binge Watching is growing so much popular and common nowadays especially in the Case of OTTs. To be honest I am also a victim of binge watching. The digital content on OTTs is designed in such a way to give more suspense to the users.

In the era of Netflix and Chill, we have definitely forgotten the old ways of entertainment and leisure. This is very alarming for young generation. It's very hard for today young generation to keep away from the addiction of digital media, digital means etc. It's sad to accept that something like Digital Detox is actually happening. How far we have come. We have become blindly dependent on technology and these digital screens are actually making us blind. Moreover constant working and sitting on a place also give rise to medical conditions.

For a start, we should cut out the extra and unwanted screen usage. We should utilise that time outdoors walking into nature, sunlight. It will give much needed break to eyes. Other simple things we can adopt is taking a break after every hours and try to close eyes for a minute. It's definitely works wonders for me. Apart from these try to maintain a balance between digital and real life. Find out new hobbies and new areas of interest which doesn't include any digital or electronic items. Take regular breaks, if you have constant screen exposure at workplace which you can't avoid then atleast you could try complete non screen mode on sundays. I have tried and tested it, it gives great relief. Last but not to least, Stop using Mobile Phones or screen before going to bed and soon after waking up. It's the worst thing we are doing to ourselves. It's effects our sleep quality as well. So, keep trying to make a good balance between work and life. Have best of the both worlds and try to spend equal time with nature as we so with screens.

Hmm!

Stop using Mobile Phones or screen before going to bed and soon after waking up.
My mobile phone is the last thing to drop at night, after my prayer I would still press phone. Then, after morning prayer, I pick to check what going on.

I can't just do without a phone not even now that I'm on Hive🀣🀣

Gone are those days when we watch TV and rest at night, but now smartphones don't allow some people to rest even at night, my husband can stay up till midnight watching comedy on his phone.

Well, too much of everything is bad and that is why we should try and rest our eyes so that they won't develop problems later in the future.

Ahhh, whenever someone calls "Netflix" I always say why I don't have Netflix and I have to watch movies and seasons through websites. I think not having Netflix also helped me to keep in limit my screen time.
