Time To Harvest Sour Cherry [ENG-TUR]

In this post, I will write about my two-day sour cherry picking stuff from the sour cherry tree in the backyard of our house.

Bu yazımda sizlere evimizin arka bahçesinde bulunan vişne ağacından iki gün süren vişne toplama işimden bahsedeceğim.

In fact, the root of this tree does not belong to us, it is a tree planted by our next-door neighbor; however, over the years, it has also taken root into our backyard. Thus, it's my right to collect these beautiful sour cherries here :) By the way, I shared the photo of this sour cherry tree in bloom in one of @phortun's weekly beauty of nature challenge. Aslında bu ağacın kökü bize ait deĝil, yan komşumuzun diktigi bir ağaç; ama, yıllar içinde bizim arka bahçeye doğru da kök saldı. Dolaysıyla burda olan bu güzel vişneleri toplamak benim hakkım :) Bu arada, bu vişne ağacı çiçek açmışkenki fotoğraflarını @phortun' un haftalık doğanın güzelliği yarışmasının birinde paylaşmıştım. The sour cherry tree has grown so much over the years that some of it has come to the wall of our house, and some of it has expanded to the empty land in front. Although the sour cherry tree gets sunlight only from morning to noon in the backyard, almost all the sour cherries on the tree have been ripen in two months. Last weekend on Saturday, I started picking sour cherries from the tree till I could reach with my hands. There were so many cherries that I picked up 1 kilo of cherries only from the reach of my hand.

Vişne ağacı yıllar içinde o kadar çok büyüdü ki bir kısmı evimizin duvarına kadar geldi, bir kısmı ise önündeki boş araziye kadar genişledi. Vişne ağacı arka bahçede sadece sabahtan öğlene kadar güneş ışığı almasına karşın iki ay sonra ağaçtaki vişnelerin hemen hemen hepsi olgunlaştı. Geçen haftasonu Cumartesi günü, ağaçta boyumun yettiği yerlerdeki vişneleri toplamaya başladım. O kadar çok vişne vardı ki sadece elimin uzandığı yerlerden yaklaşık 1 kilo vişne topladım.

The next day, I picked the sour cherries on the high branches that I could reach with a long ladder. I was able to reach the sour cherries on the higher branches by pulling some of the branches above, without damaging the tree. I also did a little pruning for some long branches. Actually, I will be doing this pruning in the fall. Although I was able to reach the higher branches, a lot of sour cherries remained on the uppermost branches. Picking them requires a longer ladder and attention. They will either rot on the branches or fall to the ground. Later, I also picked the sour cherries from the branches that hung over the empty land. On the second day, I picked about 2 kilos of sour cherries.

Ertesi gün, uzun bir merdiven ile uzanabildiğim yüksek dallardaki vişneleri topladım. Yukardaki bazı dalları, ağaca zarar vermeden, aşağı doğru çekerek daha yukardaki dallarda olan vişnelere ulaşabildim. Ayrıca bazı uzun dallara ufak budama da yaptım. Bu budama işini asıl sonbaharda yapacağım. Her ne kadar üsteki dallara ulaşabilsem de, en yukardaki dallarda bir sürü vişne kaldı. Onları toplamak daha uzun bir merdiven ve dikkat gerektiriyor. Onlar artık ya dalında çürüyecek ya da toprağa düşecek. Daha sonra, boş araziye doğru sarkmış dallardaki vişneleri de topladım. İkinci gün de yaklaşık 2 kilo vişne topladım.

I picked almost 3 kilos of sour cherries in two days. We will make some of these sour cherries as jam and some as composte in the winter. All the photos in this post belong to me. Thank you for reading.
