Apple is preparing to enter the smart ring market, following the example of the Samsung Galaxy Ring

American tech giant Apple appears to be interested in the smart ring market after Samsung announced the release of the Galaxy Ring for the second half of 2024. South Korean publication ET News revealed that Apple has already filed patents for a smart ring, indicating its intention the company to compete with Samsung and other big names in the field, such as Oura.


Rumors of an Apple Ring have already circulated for some time, suggesting that the ring could be used to control Apple's Vision Pro AR glasses prototype. A patent filed in November 2023 describes a smart ring that connects to a phone or tablet via NFC, allowing devices to be controlled through gestures and touch controls.

Apple's entry into the smart ring market could accelerate the development and adoption of this new technology. Given the company's resources and influence, the Apple Ring is expected to have a significant impact on the segment, spurring innovation and competition.
