Lending Experience | Loan What You Can Be Able To Let Go

Reading the HL community prompt about Bad Loan and people experience was kind of funny to me, we all have one experience or the other to share, I'm not really a fan of taking loans even at desperate means I had to give myself some good reasons why I shouldn't opt for loan and find other means to source for the money online because having that feeling that I'm owning someone always give me sleepless night but like they use to say desperate times call for desperate measure, if it is really an emergency or for a good course, I do seek loans from my sister or friend who I know will be able to bear with me and allow me to pay at my own convenient time so I won't be having sleepless night and i haven't default but I will love to share one experience I had while trying to be a brother's keeper for an hiver (don't plan sharing name but lesson learnt).

We all started this blogging journey together even though I knew him from the other platform years after I join the whole crypto journey through one of whatsap communities, we chatted once in a while and also drop updates if they are available then hive started, most dropped out but the fire was still burning for some of us and he was among and I somehow love his zeal of not relenting and all, then some years later, he dropped a post on how he got robbed in his own apartment while he was fast asleep, he woke up to nothing, all his phone and laptop gone, then a week later he dm me for help and according to him, he need to get a new phone and laptop so can get back on his feet and be active on his blog, as per good time sake, even though he asked for More than 100$ loan then, I had to take into consideration one statement which says "Only loan what you know you can let go" so I told him I can only loan in 100 and he plan to pay back in 2month since I don't need the money at that moment.

Now the time to pay back elapsed and I started hearing different stories every day, extended the date and still the same but I was just wondering if he will pay back, after some pleading from me (the lender) he paid back half of it, now balancing up turned to a big problem yet he was cashing out on a steady, after I was tired of sending dms, I just let go at least I go half of it back and count it as my loss till this day but I know he can't enter my dm for anything again. Somehow I was pained though but kinda learnt that I have to think twice before going all out for someone in their desperate moment especially when there are traces paying back might be hard and also only loan out what you can afford to forget incase the person decided to abscond with your money 😂
