Hive: Impacting Lives beyond the Internet

It was quite heartwarming in today's Community Token Talk Ep92 which featured Fresh Borehole Water to Ghanaian community by @mcsamm & @collinz and Hive Rally by @lordbutterfly. It is amazing to see that the usecase of the Hive blockchain is going beyond content creation and curation, but has filtered down to live changing projects in typical communities, some of which have no access to the internet. This is just the beginning of the more possibilities that can happen. Thanks to @threespeak and @theycallmedan for hosting the show and to help sensitize the growing audience the more we can achieve with Hive.

Hive Sponsored Fresh Water in Ghana Communities is Soothing

The discussions revealed that the McSam and Collinz has coordinated the construction of 11 boreholes so far in several Ghana communities. The last three water projects in the Northern region of the country is said to provide access to good drinking water to over 8,000 persons. Many who have access to good water may not understand the worth of the project. However, 2020 WHO/ UNICEF progress report statistics have it that about 387 million people live without access to basic drinking water services in Sub-Saharan, according Africa in 2020. That's a lot of risk to health and live.

The few interventions towards the provision of safe drinking water may look little due to the uncontrolled growing population in Africa. In West Africa, water quality and sanitation receive little attention. As a consequence, waterborne diseases such as cholera, diarrhea, Ebola fever are recurrent in the region. This is a justification for the @hive.ghana Fresh Water project.

Hive in the Social and Professional Space

Hive rally is really an eye opener to a great way to market Hive by sponsoring social and professional events. Let's think of a Hive Football club competing in a local tournament or league. Let's also think about Hive banners in a stadium where sporting activities happen as a major sponsor. I think it shows there's much we can do to get the impact of Hive to the common man. I will be personally looking towards these directions in the next couple of months in my bod to enroll institutions and business to Hive. I would be intentional about brokering partnerships in all projects attempted so that the partnering bodies would see the need to join us here.

Imagine what happens when this Hive branded car gets to rock on Formula One?? It is a gradual process and the journey of a thousand miles is said to start with just a step. Think of having a Hive branded vehicles as taxis in African towns and cities. It's a whole game changer!

Hive is moving from the usual and the known. This is the real deal. No more a computer/gadget-centered initiative, Hive is getting to the people where they are. For me:

• Hive is not just a blockchain
• Hive is a tool for economic empowerment
• Hive is changing lives in the rural poor
• Hive is building infrastructure across the world
• Hive is already playing the role of governments
• Hive is a blockchain with a difference.

The efforts put in by @mcsamm, @collinz and @lordbutterfly are worthy of emulation and are really inspiring. It goes down to meaning that meaningful impact can trickle down from our post engagements and this would be a more organic way of marketing the blockchain and thereby bringing in real users who would join here to contribute true value.

It's time every Hive user gets to think out of the box and imagine taking true value to people out there courtesy of Hive support and then making them see the worth of value and the need to join. Already, today's CTT podcast has sparked an idea of a community controlled DAO funding where influential users can raise a funding proposal for small growing and thriving projects which would be periodically accessed to be sure that value is still being added to humanity.

Endless Possibilities...

It's time to think of school classroom blocks built entirely by Hive's fund and the Hive logo boldly displayed. Let's think of meaningful collaboration of Hive communities and projects with government for counterpart funding and exposure. The possibilities are just endless. What are you going to do to extend the value of Hive beyond Hive?
