What is required to get success

For over 2 years, I played football in the Pepsi Academy. It was an academy where the majority of players have a lot of kits. One of the players joined the team and did not have a soccer boot. He was from a not-so-rich home, but had a strong desire for football. We normally dump our used soccer boots at the back of the hostel, he picked one there and started playing with it.

He always looked different in training because of the boot, but he trained more and did extra sessions for speed, agility, stamina & shot using the half-dead soccer boot.

Clemens Westerhof

We had a competition at one of the biggest football academies in the country by Coach Clemens Westerhof, I played at the right back(2. Defender) and I was good and the new boy played at the right front (7. Winger). I played my role well, which also gave him enough role to show what he got. He got the attention of Westerhof. His first shot hit the bar, and the sound was earsplitting. He was pretty fast and very skilful. After the match, Westerhof listed the boy to join his academy.

The boy was among the people that played against Mourinho under 16 Inter Milan Team that travelled down to Nigeria. He started with the "half-dead" boot. He was selected to the best academy and currently playing in a league in Belgium.

Results like this serve as an eye-opener for what is required for success. Sit back and think about all the things you need to succeed. The MacBook Pro, credentials, degrees, experiences, the Canon E05 5D

We tell ourselves what we love to hear and those things are the last few things we need on our journey.

You need good gym wears and a sneaker before you start working out. You want a good computer with 16GB RAM before you start coding and a Canon E05 SD before you start taking those shots.

We build a mountain in our minds and we finished a castle, but we do not make an effort to start with a brick. Because it is simple to focus on them and never move. The perfect things you desire are 10% things you need to start. The 90% is the main work.

We all want to follow the path that is easy and smooth, but it is not always the same for everyone. However, the difference between success and failure is in getting better and understanding the basics.

The biggest skill is starting & doing the work. This is not about doing the work when you feel like. It is not doing the work when you feel complete, or when you find it easy. But even when everything isn’t smooth, keep doing it.

You will become better at everything you dedicate your mind for. My first content on Hive 6 years ago was crap, but it isn’t today, and I am still growing. My code 3 years ago is not the same as today, and I started with a dell computer 4GB ram, not a mac book pro I use today.

You might not be a good businessperson but if you interact every day with your customers and have an open mind for improvement, you will be better because you are putting in the work.

You don’t need more credentials to start a business, you don’t need a Nike to be a good athlete, you don’t need a big Canon camera to start your photography journey, what you need is to decide, set your time and start.

That will be it, thanks for reading.
