Coins of a State That No Longer Exists

When Czechoslovakia liberated itself from communism in 1989, none of its citizens thought that our state was only three years away from existence.

The cause of the state's demise was national problems. In the Slovak Republic, the party which had the creation of an independent state as part of its programme won the elections.

The original state ceased to exist on 31 December 1992. Two new states were created on 1 January 1993.

Today I present six commemorative silver coins from 1990 - 1992.

B. 200 years of Mozart's activity in Prague, reopening of "the Estates Theatre", 1991
C. 175 years of the founding of the Moravian Museum, 1992

D. 50th anniversary of the extermination of the villages of Lidice and Ležáky by the German Nazis
E. 100 years since the foundation of the Slovak Museum Society, 1993
F. 1000 years since the founding of the monastery in Břevnov, Prague (still exists)

This concludes my series on Czechoslovak commemorative coins. I have presented the coins I have at home. In fact, more types were minted. However, I do not specialize in collecting these coins. However, I wanted to present the coins of my country. This was just a sort of introduction to my other coin presentations.

I promised myself to write at least 24 articles by January 25. This is the twenty-second. I hope my determination will last and I will meet or exceed my plan.
