These are my favorite coffees. Opinion

A necessary introduction

From the publications in this community some users who have exchanged with me have asked me if I know much about coffee brands and if I have tasted them. I must say that for a long time the coffee I drank was the purest because it was the one that was harvested and the whole process was done at home. My grandmother was fascinated by that.

I must also say that I don't know much about coffee brands and I don't think I have tried that many. What I do have to say is that the ones I have tried I have liked and, beyond the quality or the number they have on the market, I can attest that my palate has been pleased with their flavor.

Based on the above, today I would like in this publication to list the brand of coffee that I like the most and place them according to my criteria. I want to clarify that this is not a quality criterion, but a personal one. I would appreciate if you read me to leave me your opinions about your tastes.

The reason for this publication

This publication has several reasons:

  • From the comments of some members of the community about my taste in coffee.
  • The visit I recently made to a market in search of coffee in which I saw two or three brands that I like.
  • Finding this Sunday the brand of coffee that identifies our country and that I like so much.
However, what ended up making me write this publication was a question that a co-worker asked me during our morning cup of coffee today: Tony, which is the brand of coffee that you like the most?

For these reasons I have decided to make this publication and I hope that, if someone reads me, they can ask themselves the same question and answer it.

Without further ado, here is the list of the types of coffee that I like the most, taking into account those that I have been able to try. I am going to place them from the one I like the least to the most appetizing, always remembering that this is a personal criterion.

It was difficult for me to decide who to leave out of the list and I hope that the coffee that is not on the list will forgive me and I want you to know that I love all of them.

Place number five

Turquino Gourmet Coffee. As its name suggests it is a coffee that comes from Pico Turquino which is the highest elevation in Cuba. This coffee is made from the Arabica bean and is a strong, rich coffee with a very tasty aroma.

Place number four

El Morro Coffee. A rich Boricua coffee that, like the others, leaves us with a rich flavor, like the Caribbean we inhabit. It is a strong, dark coffee with a pleasant taste to the palate.

Place number three

Of all of them, this is the one that I have been drinking for the least time, barely 9 months, and it arrived because it was the only one on the market. However, what a pleasure it has given me to drink it. Unlike the others, in this coffee the Arabica and Robusta beans are mixed and the blend is so perfect that it seems like the cloning and appearance of a new brand of coffee bean. Of all of them I like the smell of this one the most and when I open it I delight myself for several minutes with its scent before starting to prepare it.

In spite of being a coffee of Italian origin it has a flavor that resembles those produced in our beautiful and special Caribbean.

Place Number Two

This place is for a coffee that is produced in the United States, but its origin is from the mountains of Trinidad in south central Cuba. This coffee has special characteristics in terms of flavor, color, body and aroma. It is difficult that this coffee in its elaboration does not have the required quality. Of all of them, when combined it is the one that gives us the best result.

Place of Honor

This place goes to Café Cubita, Cuba's favorite coffee and the one that has identified the coffee market of the island in the last years. Like most of the brands in this selection, this coffee is composed 100% of Arabica beans and its flavor, taste and quality are unmistakable.

A final comment

This has been my selection and I recognize that it has not been easy to choose because of the quality of the nominees.

If you made it this far, thank you for reading.

Have a good week.

Cheers and greetings.

Note: In the production of coffee on this side of the geography the Arabica and Robusta coffee beans predominate; being the first of them the most used and the one of better quality and yield, at least, in the years that I picked coffee I learned this with the coffee workers.

The photos are my own taken with my Samsung J2.

For the translation of the text I have used DeepL Translate.

Wow harvesting and roasting coffee at home must be quite an experience, what a nice way to start the day with the fruits of your own harvest, although you surely have to be very patient.

Look how lucky I am, it turns out that after reading your article I have realized that I have only had the opportunity to try one of your favorites, and with the luck that it is number 1 hahahaha.

It was a long time ago that I was able to try the Cubita and it is definitely emblematic of your country, I remember how strong it seemed to me, but that's the way you take your coffee, very, very black hahaha.

I find it amazing that the package is still, if not the same, similar since I tried it, I'd say about 15 years ago now more or less.

Keep enjoying a good cup of coffee anytime!!!.

Muchas gracias por leer y por los comentarios. Lo del café es toda una odisea y recogerlo es una aventura en la que como usted dice hay que tener mucha paciencia. El paquete sigue siendo el mismo y es el que lo identifica. Feliz jornada. Salud y saludos.

Thank you very much for reading and for the comments. The coffee thing is quite an odyssey and picking it up is an adventure in which as you say you have to have a lot of patience. The package is still the same and it is the one that identifies you. Happy day. Cheers and best regards.

I love coffee, I've tried other brands of very good coffee as well. In my case, my favorite is Serrano, I swap places with Cubita and take it to 4th place 🤣, but in general I like them all, I can't live without having my cup of coffee in the morning. Enjoy your Cubita 😂 Best regards

Salud y saludos.

It is true that we have several brands and all of them are very good. The Cubita has been for tradition, although I have bought on two occasions some packs that have not tasted very good, but it has been on those occasions. Serrano is also very good. But in the publication I wanted there to be a variety of countries and to have a photograph of the coffee purchased to show it.
Thank you for your kindness. Happy weekend. Cheers and best regards.
