My X Journey - Setting the Baseline

I was never very active on web2 social media and ever since I became more active on Hive, around 3 years ago, my web2 social media presence dropped almost to 0.

I didn't delete my accounts, but I haven't checked them in so long that I would not be surprised if the platforms themselves have done it without my consent (because, unlike on web3, that can happen).

Why Hive?

Hive is a web3 blockchain-based social community that's fully decentralized and censorship-resistant - one of the few networks that can actually claim that title.

Besides that, it's also the "home" of many applications and sub-communities that I came to love and use on a daily basis, the main one being InLeo.

Hive, and the applications built on top of it are superior in almost every way to their web2 counterparts, but, truth be told, one of the things that Hive lacks in comparison is the huge user base that traditional social media has.

We are still a niche community, and as such, our user base, although very loyal, is a lot smaller.

Promoting Hive

As great as it is, Hive is not perfect. At least not yet.

An argument could be made that a bigger userbase is the answer to most of the obstacles Hive currently faces or, at the very least, a great step in that direction, and that's why many loyal users engage in campaigns to promote Hive to a bigger audience and, hopefully, bring them to the blockchain.

One of the main channels for that is X (formerly Twitter).

My X Journey

I've had an X account for some time now, but I have been using it mainly to share my InLeo posts to try and get some attention to what we are doing here.

While that is better than nothing, I wasn't being really effective or efficient on my mission because I was not applying any strategy whatsoever. To be honest, I had no idea about the best practices to grow an audience on X.

That changed recently when the InLeo team started an organized effort to increase our presence on X and, as a consequence, draw more attention to InLeo and Hive.

I'm a big fan of everything the InLeo team has done for the community, so I decided to join in this venture and see if I could help while learning a bit more about X in the meantime.

Setting the baseline

As I mentioned before, I haven't applied any particular strategy until now, so I'm starting pretty much from scratch. But hey, we all have to start somewhere, right?

Luckily, although I do lack the knowledge, I do have a network of other people who are taking part in this organized push that InLeo is spearheading and some of them are doing really well!

I'm sure that by leveraging their previous experience and our collective knowledge, we will all build a big X following in no time.

I'm very data-driven so the main reason behind this post is to set the baseline of where I'm starting so I can keep track of my progress on a weekly basis and adjust as needed.

Here are my X stats as of today:

I'm not really sure what to make of it yet, but as Mark Hanna (
Matthew McConaughey's character on Wolf of Wall Street) would say, "You Gotta Pump Those Numbers Up, Those Are Rookie Numbers."

To be fair, I haven't really started doing anything different than what I did so far, so I'm not worried. I'm sure as I start to apply the strategies I'm learning, these numbers will see a nice pump.

I won't set any goals for now because first, I need to understand what I'm capable of doing and how it affects those metrics, but stay tuned to follow my journey to be a X influencer! Ok, not really, but I will do my best.
