3Speak Mobile App v1.3.1 is Out - Update Now

Greetings 3Speak Community Members,
Here's @sagarkothari88 with a new update for the 3Speak mobile app. We're releasing a new version of the Mobile app for both iOS & Android users. Please find the release notes listed below.
What's New in Release 1.3.1?
Portrait Videos
- This was the feedback from many users - @tibfox, @neopch, @starkerz, @rishi556, @brianoflondon, and many more.
- Not playing portrait video properly in the app was a poor experience.
- With this feature, the Now app will detect the size of the video first & based on that, set the video player size & scale-ratio accordingly
- Here is what a portrait video detail page would look like.
- As you can see in the screenshot below, the height for the mini-player is more for portrait video. As a user, you can always switch to full screen.
3Shorts > Portrait Shorts
- @tibfox, @neopch & many other users kept pushing me to integrate this feature.
- Thanks to @vaultec's mentorship, I was able to integrate a solution with which an app can detect video resolution before playing
- Now, everytime you play a 3Shorts, portrait shorts will be detected & 3Shorts player will scale video accordingly

Refresh 3Shorts
- This was the feedback from @starkerz
- Before this release, users were required to go back & open 3Shorts again to reload 3Shorts.
- With this refresh button, users can now easily refresh 3Shorts
Access your account easily
- This was the feedback from @starkerz - difficult to find "my account".
- Added a button on the Dashboard to access your account easily.
- With a tap, you can now go to your account.
Share Button
- Added a Share button on Video Details Page.
- This was the feedback from @starkerz.
- Here is a preview of how it would look.
Refresh My Account Videos
- This was the feedback from @starkerz3
- Before this release, users were required to go back & open My Account again to reload contents.
- Users can now easily refresh My Account Videos with this refresh button.
Preview Before Publish
- This was the feedback from @rishi556.
- He suggested that the user should be able to see the video preview before publishing.
- I added that feature based on input to him.
- Credit goes to him for those who like this feature (@rishi556).

Refresh feeds easily
- This was the feedback from @starkerz.
- Not being able to reload the feed was a pain for users.
- Home Feed, Trending Feed, New Feed, First Uploads - all support Pull down to refresh.
- Here is what it's going to look like.
My Account > Play My Videos
- It was feedback from @starkerz & many other users.
- Users could not play videos from "my account" before this release.
- Now, with this latest version, users can play videos from My Account.
- Here is how it would look.
3Shorts > Landscape Shorts
- @vaultec guided me on how to integrate this.
- Now, everytime you play a 3Shorts, landscape shorts will be detected & 3Shorts player will scale video accordingly

Automatic Publishing
- In our recent post, we announced that starting from June 15th, 2023, the videos you upload will be published automatically.
- Due to this few users like @virginianavas1 and @jaydr were in an embarrassing situation because they accidentally uploaded something.
- Starting from July 1st. 2023, all the videos you upload will be published as soon as processing is complete.
- So, I request users to be careful when uploading the videos.
- Only upload videos that you want to publish.
- I'm also thinking of a feature in the mobile app that would ask the user at the time of upload - Auto-publish or Manual-publish.
Unwanted links
- Links added to the bottom of the post are unwanted links.
- @vaultec suggested removing those.
- Those links look good on @ecency.
- But it fails to render properly on peakd.com & hive.blog
- I've decided to remove those links from the post template.
@ecency <=> @threespeak integration
- I am working closely with @good-karma & @adesojisouljay to complete the @threespeak integration to @ecency.
- A couple of API changes that were needed & suggested by @ecency.
- I'm implemented all of those suggestions on 3Speak-Creator-Studio & unblocked them.

Legacy Creator Studio Updates
- DApps API now supports setting beneficiaries.
- DApps API now supports setting 50% HP or 100% HP or Decline rewards.
- DApps API now allows community selection for AutoPosting.
Legacy front-end updates
- I wrote a cron job to update the video metadata - height & width.
- I also wrote a cron job to update the posted videos' status but stay in the
publish_manualstate. - I updated the cron job to auto-publish the videos & set the start date to July 1st, 2023.
Important News:
After processing is complete, starting from Jul 1st, 2023, uploaded videos will be published automatically (only if you've given the posting authority to 3Speak).
How to Download?
- Download iOS App
- Download Android App from Google Play Store
- Download Android App using Firebase
- Download Android App from DropBox
What's next?
- AutoPosting - Planned from Jul 1st, 2023.
- iPad / Tablet Support - research work.
- Allow users to set beneficiaries from the app.
- Allow users to decline rewards for videos from the app.
- Allow user to 100% power-up for the video-post.
- Allow users to set the language for the video while uploading the content.
- My Video Feed / My Subscribed Feed.
- Show the Encoding % of the encoding done in my account.
- Allow users to upvote the 3Shorts.
- Allow the user to provide posting authority to @threespeak using a key-chain session.
- Language-based video filters.
- There is a bug - 3Shorts - info button leads to a blank screen.
- Play ONLY audio of the video in the background.
- and many more action items & feedback items.

This is incredible work. As the native video-publishing (and hosting) platform for Web 3, 3Speak should be all over the marketing game, giving side-by-side comps with YouTube, Rumble, Vimeo, and Twitter as to how accounts are managed and who owns the data, because I believe that there will be another great exodus of users from YouTube as they implant ever more ads into their UI and charge more money for the paid services. 3Speak only needs integration with Vimm for livestreaming and the video super app for the SPK Network could be born.🤝

Can't wait for this feature. This is actually the only thing stopping me from using this regularly outside of testing. I usually listen to videos on the go or do other things on my phone simultaneously, and the ability to have them continue playing when screen is off or I'm using a different application is crucial to me.
On the same note, is miniature video player on the roadmap as well, similar to how youtube premium works when you're watching a video and going to the home screen (i.e. video keeps playing)?
Another feature I'd love to see is to continue a video from where I left off. Sometimes I click "back" or on another video by mistake, making me lose where I was. Probably not very easy to implement, but it sure would make my life a lot easier :)

This would be Android only feature. So far, I am able to play the audio in the background but I don't know how to have controls over it - e.g. stop it, fast forward, etc.
This is something challenging but yes, I'll add that to my to-do.

It seems very valuable work is being done, and great success is being achieved. Kudos for your successful efforts!
I am wondering if automatically publishing any files uploaded might be problematic. You pointed out some folks had published material they had not intended to by uploading files. It will always be the case that files are mislabelled or mistakenly uploaded, and people may not discover this has happened until after the upload is complete. Certainly there may be discovered that material needs to be edited after it has been uploaded, from time to time. Requiring a separate decision to publish an uploaded file would prevent some accidental releases from happening, and I think this would be a benefit to your community, while not being difficult or costly to implement.

Yes. I'll integrate an option - Publish manually or Publish automatically - after upload.
With that user will have clear choice on what to be done for the uploaded video.

Please guide me. I want to reupload my content from my YouTube channel to 3speak in order to boost my earnings as I am missing out on earnings from 3speak. This I will start after 10 to 11 days after my blacklist from hivewatchers is removed. However I will ask which I have been asking over and over again when will 3speak have YouTube sync integration? if they are planning such a development please let me know so I wait for it instead other wise I would have no choice but to manually upload my YouTube content to 3speak of course giving source of the uploaded content as well as hivewatchers told me even creative commons 0 content must be given source. Help please help.
