The Struggle of Being Too Generous, Expectations and Setting Boundaries.
It's sometimes funny how good people end up being the ones that face life's challenges the most. And sometimes this makes me feel like being too good is just harmful, and when you do things like this, you do them at your own risk because no one cares whether you are fine or not or whether what you are doing pleases you or not; they just want everything to revolve around them.
It happens that I was at home one faithful morning in my apartment, and I noticed that the light we use is supposed to be monitored by everyone, and it's the responsibility of everyone to monitor the gate that leads to the whole apartment, but sometimes some people in the apartment claim it's the responsibility of those in the first room to watch over the main gate while there is no security to do that.
Sometimes I do this, and I feel like I should save others from stress. I never knew they had turned it into my duty, and they expect me to always do it any day and anytime anyone is at the gate. I went out overnight and came back the next morning to rest, and I went to one of the guys in the apartment to tell them to watch over the gate while I was asleep, and the next thing he told me was to go watch over it, and he said it's not his duty.
Immediately after he said this, I was just a bit confused, and I thought within myself why he would say that, and I found out that I had been doing too much, which is why he was able to say that. Ever since then, it has just been me staying in my room and not disturbing myself with anything concerning the apartment again. I just choose to be on my own now because that's the best. Some kinds of people do not really pay because they take you for granted.
I would suggest that you guys should get a padlock and copy the key for everyone in the hostel. That is what we did in our hostel.
Actually, leaving the whole thing to you doesn’t even make any sense, it is not your job in any way. Every occupants is responsible for the safety of the hostel.
That would have been the best solution but they won't co-operate for that.
They never knew it was not easy for just a person until I stopped totally.
Sadly people are lazy and like to delegate responsibility to others far too much. Something is likely to happen and you may get blamed for not watching it but it’s everyone’s responsibility.
Those kind of people are somehow frustrating. You are very correct. Everyone have their own responsibility to everything.
