Movie Review: Japa (A Time-Looping Adventure).

So there is this movie I saw online and also a trailer, which I thought would be a good watch for me, and then I went ahead to download it. This movie is titled Japa. At first, when I saw this movie online, I had some thoughts about it, and I read the synopsis to know what the movie really had, but I was not really convinced until I downloaded it. So after downloading it, I decided to watch it today on my system.

Japa is a Nigerian Nollywood movie that was launched this year, and it has been among the movies that are trending and are creating more views in the movie system. The movie was produced by Inkblot Productions and iPod Pictures and also directed by Isioma Osaje.

Little about this movie.

The movie Japa is about four friends Mezu, Wasiu, Shola, and Tobe, who have an association called the Japa Network. They try to leave their country, Nigeria, and are planning to relocate to another country, but in the process, mezu and his colleague at work, Kamsi, get stuck in a loop of time.

To travel from Nigeria to another country, you must have a well-sounding English-speaking accent, that is why mezu and his friends went for the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) course so they could fit in for the traveling they wanted.

Zino on the other side, is a well-known gangster that terrorizes the community, and no one could challenge whatever he does, which makes him get away with whatever he does. He was not just terrorizing everyone but also making Omenala, who is a goddess insect, bring the loop of time to mezu and Kamsi so they had to do whatever the goddess wanted for them to get freed from this course.

As you know, the movie cannot be complete without some people who acted and used their efforts to make it work. Some of these are: Adesua Etomi-Wellinton, Jidekene Achufusi, Blossom Chukwujekwu, Seun Ajayi, Layi Wasabi, More Duncan, Jumoke George, Mofe Duncan, Bolaji Ogunnola, and many others.

This movie was done with total understanding because if you didn't pay total attention to it, you would understand what the movie was, especially when the loop of time came, and they had to repeat some days, which was a bit disturbing to understand if you didn't follow it well. The movie Japa has good graphics quality and a good choice of music, and the tracks used in the movie were so good, and it really made the movie more interesting and fun to watch with all the funny moments wasiu showed throughout.

The movie has a bit of a downside at some point because there was a part where mezu was traveling and got robbed, which was not real; he was supposed to escape, but he did because he was sluggish. Another thing was the fact that I already knew mezu and Kamsi were going to get intimate afterward, which was not supposed to be so. Not all friendships should end in bed.

If I were to give a rating to this movie, judging from all the efforts put together, I would rate this move 8 out of 10 because of the job well done in the movie.

Aside from all the little flaws and the good side, this movie is a nice movie to watch because of the movie quality, and the way it was acted. Imagine sitting down to watch a movie for an hour and 50 minutes and not getting tired. It is such an amazing one, and it is worth the time. I must say, I didn't regret spending my time watching this movie, and I would easily recommend it to anyone who loves to watch Nollywood movies. Lovers of Nollywood movies, here is another one for you to add to your watch list and enjoy the moment.
