Things are getting very interesting.

We have discussed how things are going to change with LEO regarding the integration on Maya. We often hear how HIVE has to be on more exchanges. By extension, people want that to happen to other tokens such as $LEO.

This is more than just a listing. What we are seeing is Leo becoming a DEX.

It is evident that we are going to have 8 pairs to start. We have no idea what is going to be included in the first batch of listings but they are busy being built.

The idea here is to focus on more than just Leo or Hive. In fact, this is a service that could be marketed to those outside the ecosystem.

LEO: DEX Connecting To The Outside

This is, I presume, a sample of the section of the UI under development.

As we can see, there is a direct connection to $BTC. Since Maya also connects Ethereum and THORchain, we can envision how these will be base pairs.

Of course, Ethereum has a host of layer 2 tokens including USDC and USDT. We might want to mention that the Ethereum upgrade is dropping the fees on L2.

It is also why the Leo token on Maya is wLEO, the Ethereum version.

The massive benefit is that LEO does not have to be involved in the process. We are looking at the Leo UI having a DEX built in, one that can swap anything related to Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Thorchain. In looking at the list of Thorchain coins, it hits most of the major ones.

What we are looking at is the potential for Hive to no longer be an island. One of the issues always has been entering and exiting the system.

This could be the solution, depending upon the liquidity provided.

Leo Power Discount

Things get interesting when we consider some of the possibilities. Since Leo is the Dex, it can set its own rules. This includes the transaction fees.

One of the ideas mentioned is to give a discount on the fees based upon the holding of Leo Power. This could provide an incentive for heavy traders to grab some LEO to receive a bit of discount.

As always, this is not the Golden Goose. It is simply another feather in the demand curve that we are trying to construct. The idea is to kick of a flywheel effect.

How much can be generated in fees?

That is impossible to answer at this point. However, if there is the ability to enter HIVE (or HBD) into the UI and have the output of BTC or any of the ETH tokens, that could be appealing to a lot of people.

To be honest, this is something that is missing for many people on Hive. Even if there are some options, the liquidity usually is awful.

Another benefit is the ability to go directly to and from LEO to other coins/tokens. Again, being isolated is never good for an asset. The ability to enter or exit a position is crucial to market participants.

Of course, all this reverts back to liquidity.

Based upon the activity on ThorChain, the potential to tap into one of the most active DEX exists.

We should get a better idea of the potential in the next month or so.

This could be bigger than we first thought.
