How To Go About Adding To LeoGlossary

This was a comment to yesterday's post about creating Wikipedia on Leo, we had this comment:

In this article I will put forth an idea of how to approach this.

Set Up An Account To Post From

This is optional. One could use his or her account. However, these posts might not be desired in one's main blog.

For this reason, I would set up an account to post the pages.

Set Up A Community

In this instance, we will call it New England Info. This is the account that is desired.

To do this, we use the Communities, a feature that is at the base layer of Hive.

This can be done through PeakD since I am not sure if this can be done through Leo as of yet. Either way, once the community is designed, it can be posted into.

Once created, simply make sure it is joined and when you go to publish through Leo, the community can be selected.

Once the community is set up, Leo is a general use front end. All topics can be included.

Create The Page

Using the New England Info idea, we could have pages covering a wide range of topics.

Just a few ideas:

  • state histories
  • Boston page
  • Salem Witch Trials
  • Capitols of New England
  • business in the area

Anything pertaining to the region can be built into the glossary. Each could be a separate page, linking to other relevant data. The idea could be as big or small in scope as desired. With this one, it could be about a single town or the entire area.

Page Set Up

One of the keys is to get the URL right so we can be consistent under the LeoGlossary umbrella.

In this example, we will use the idea of a page for Boston.

We have to have get the title right:

By going with this, we get LeoGlossary in the title. It also keeps the URL consistent. If, at some point, this is incorporated into the front end, that will help.

This is how the money page looks:

Using this approach, this is what the Boston page URL would appear:

If we ever get to the point where LeoGlossary linking is built into the front end, having consistent URLs is a great help.

Also, we have the consistency of keeping it all under the same heading, hopefully helping SEO in the long run.

Of course, we will want to link amount the New England Pages created and any other aspects to LeoGlossary that the pages relate to.

It is a way where this project can scale.

Page Views

By setting up one's own glossary, the pageview revenue, if any, will be directed to the account that was set up. This could offer even more potential to expand the projects in the future.

Awesome, that's almost what I was thinking of. I'm glad I wasn't too far off for that! I'm going to work on getting some stuff set up so that I can do small contributions like this! It's going to be a bit of a fun side project!

Question on the reward side of it, are you declining rewards for the posts? I only ask because I didn't want it to seem like the purpose of the post was strictly for rewards, and the benefits I don't think I would necessarily take but rather put it back into the community.

Thanks for putting this together man!

Thanks for asking this question. I've been thinking about how this would work myself for a good while. I don't have any immediate plans myself, but it's good to now have the option by knowing how to, once the occasion/need does arise.

I've bookmarked this post for future reference.

That's great thanks for considering helping out! The best way to change the way we do things is one step at a time!

Yes I decline rewards although the feature isnt presently working through the Leo app. But since the beginning, I declined them on the posts.

This will ultimately be a feeder for ad revenue and pageviews.
